Z3 rear arms are bolt on, as are e36 compact rear arms.

the only extra things you need are new handbrake cables.

the e36 front uprights are easy to fit, but you will have major caster issues, Get hold of E30 M3 parts if you can, much better and easier. winkeye

I agree that fitting the E30 M3 front struts is a better option, especially when combined with M3 front wishbone bushes.

The only dissadvantage will be that in order to have the same offset wheels front and rear you will need hubcentric spacers (to use the E36 wheels on the E30 M3 hubs I mean).

Incidentally: Why do you need new handbrake cables to fit the Z3 trailing arms? Don't E30 ones fit the hubs? I ask because I am soon to fit M Coupé trailing arms and had planned on using the handbrake cables that are already there.

Any help appreciated.

i understand camber caster etc i work at a garage and i am some what of a expert on the 4 wheel lazer alighnment gear we have
the e36 bottom arm slides into a mount towards the rear (bottom arm rear bush) iv noticed that on the e36 the mounting rubber hole is dead in the centre were as on the e30 the mount is off centre therfore i think if i was to fit the e30 mount it would push the hub assemble out and forwards pulling the wheel into the centre of the arch

any one wanting four wheel lazer alighnment give us a ring auto repairs on 01482 668088 we can do everything from a nissan micra to a lambo we set up cars for the track westfields kit cars the mx5 turbos we build are rx7's fast road normal road use lowered supspansion set suspension the works can set up to your own settings, factory settings or some were in between a must for every one out there thats fitted new parts suspension wise bigger wheels wider wheels run up a kurb etc

New handbrake cables as a matter of course - your old ones may become damaged, or are already damaged.

New ones are a definate if fitting rear discs anyway as the drum handbrake cable has a different temination on it for operating the handbrake assembly :) winkeye

So you would need some of these to change the caster??

Just changing joints and bushes isnt enough, you need to modify the wishbones to get the wheel to sit in the centre of the arch.
Ideally the wishbone needs to be around 15mm longer from rear bush to hub ball joint

What is needed from the e36?

Just the strut and arms?

I realised I could have done the front.. the rear would have been harder.. The local scrappy was getting rid of an e36.. Buggar!
