E30 Zone

Hello Guys

I have recently brought a e30 (not going well but that is a different story) and was wondering what tools are essential for maintaing the vechile as well as tools for the larger job like oh say changing the head gasket etc..

prices would be a great help but I can find that out myself

please include doe exepnsive but they pay for themselves type tools as wel

just trying to find out the price of a well stocked DIY garage

The list is endless!!! Im in the process of deciding what I need to be buying as all my tools are at parents house and Im sure my dad will come out with the old 'they're mine' line.

Just get yourself a good Halfords pro socket set and start building from there

did you buy this car with the head gasket gone

get a reasonable socket set and some spanners

a tourque wrench is good for things like wheels and essential for anything like head bolts and manifold nuts etc

get a variety of screwdrivers, different size head and different lenghts

mole grips are cheap and extremly handy, some adjustabel spanners come in handy when you need two or more spanners the same size

and a good hammer

that should get you going to begin with

This really is a ''how long is a piece of string'' question.

you can't go wrong with halfords pro stuff as almost all of it is lifetime garuntee most of my tool's are from there.

Start with the big socket set, you can always add tools later and get a decent trolly jack and axle stands, for a head job you will need a torque wrench too, maby you can borrow or hire 1 as they are expensive for a decent 1

no it went on me after 178 miles of ownership. I am in discussion with the previous owner now.

should be resolved by the weekend.

It is also advisable to buy some second hand (but not cheap) tools. like chizels(sp) spanners, sockets, and screwdrivers.

Basicly anything you dont mind if it gets mullered when you use it for a job you cant use anything else for. (car boot sales are good for this stuff)
