Tank under my arch?

What is the plastic tank that is located under the rear drivers side arch for? Its mounted right tite to the top of the arch, just right of the fuel cap/filler, wots this for, and what are the tubes/wires going from it doing? can i do without it? thanks

Probably the petrol vent tank. The hoses go from the fuel tank to the little tank then hoses go to the outside, this helps when filling up the car as the pressure adapts to the fuel being put in. Could be wrong though!

that would make sense alrite, its just im redoing my fuel filler as it was rusted badly, i cut the rusted section of the pipe out and im going to redo it with rubber pipe, but im thinking now il have to connectthis tank up somehow!

im guessing that this is the breather tank and it is important that it is connected
