Has anyone had any problems with wheels catching on the front wings ? on my 1989 325i i have 17" alpina reps with 205/40/17 tyres. The car has had a 60/40 spax kit fitted. It occasionally catches the lip on the front wings when turning and hitting a slight bump at the same time. I am putting two new wings on tomorrow with the lips rolled back so hopefully this may stop it. anyone had anything simular ? any help much appriciated

I hear you buddy !!!!
Mine's has 18" alp reps and like you say, each time i pull into my driveway over the drop kerb, only a 50mm step & i get this awefull grinding of rubber on metal!!!!!.
Only way is to take the hammer to it (gently)

yup had the same problem on my 17's with 215/40's on 60/40 drop.
Luckily i have spacers on to get the "reccomended offset" (read as a mile out) so have changed to a smaller spacer and havent had any more probs.

I get this on my standard wheels and tyres and it has actually pulled the right hand wing out a little. I had to tap it back in with a hammer.

mine did this. the offset on the 17" alpina reps is wrong by about 8mm. wheels in the right offset normally just clear it.
i'd change the wheels personally (well i did!). imho the BK racing ones are shite of the highest degree. the 16" replicas are far better quality (no plakky centering ring, only 4 bolt holes) and though a little less 'striking', look better in my eyes.

best thing you can do if you wanns keep the rims on id roll the lip on the wings or grind it..... this will cure it, i had the same problem with my sport with the spax kit to but to be honest the spax set-up is poo. if you wanna keep things as they are, roll the arch matey easiest way without spending big bux to put it right, i.e uprated suspension etc...
