Should i PX my cecotto for an evo sport? HELP!!!!!

Right,

This evening i dropped my little 318i off for a service. My mate followed me down in my cecotto. The guy who owned the place came out and was really interested in it.

Anyway, he said he always wanted one in that colour and would i be interested in a PX with anevo sport he had imported from germany.

I said i might be interested and he offered me 9.5k for my car against the evo sport, meaning in all i would need another 5.5k to change.

The spec of the car is as follows -

Black with cloth trim
3 owners
92,000 miles
Full history

I really dont know what to do!

When answering this please keep the following in mind -

i could upgrade the engine of mine to produce more power than the evo sport.
Im only 20 and the increase in insurance is quite a bit.
My car has had a full engine rebuild 14,000 miles ago
I know the last 2 owners (one of which was the owner of BMW stevenage)
Macau is my favourite colour
Iv spent a lot of money on mine!

What do you guys think, im still in 2 minds although im leaning towards keeping mine.

For anyone who's not seen mine its here -

Thanks for the offer mate, its good to know but -

There are a couple of people on here with dibs and if you saw it i doubt you would value it at 9.5k, IMO its worth 8.5k max.

Obviously, if i do decide to go for the evo sport il gladly take this guys 9.5k but to me it would not represent any kind of value for money at that price.

If i do decide to sell i will let you know

It's an interesting point, would you rather have two M3's or one Evo sport.

We already have 2 M3's if you count the DTM car but I know what you mean, when you put it like that it sounds like a stupid idea considering what you get for the extra money with the evo sport.

Its just the temptation of owning the ultimate road going M3. Its a case of the heart ruling the head!

I'd stay as you are, evo sports are waaaay over priced, and you know your car

Sport evo all the way ,if you can ascertain its a proper car with no major issues ,try and get the changeover price down and you can't lose.
Sport evo prices are going one way and nice cars are pulling serious money. The sport evo is the real deal !.

If you actually look at the full spec list of an evo sport compared to an evo 1 or evo 2 i would say its worth it!

If it was red, I'd jump at it, the black Sport evo is a nightmare to keep clean, and if you like to use the car regular, it would soon piss you off, ask Paul!

Stick with the cecotto!

Thanks for the input guys.

Im going to drive the evo sport today when i go to pick up my 318i. Im thinking il keep the cecotto as i know it 100% and its mechanically perfect.

If the Sport Evo is in the same nick as your Cecotto then I would go for the Evo.

I have a Black Sport Evo and yes it is a pain to keep clean but no more so than Maccau Blue I would imagine.

Yes in real terms they offer very little over a standard or EvoII M3, however they do hold their value much more than the others and as you have said it is the ultimate road going M3.

A good Sport Evo is worth between Ԛ£13/Ԛ£15k in todays market, just make sure it is a good one.

Let us know what you decide

I'm with Pacerpete on this one. And in a few years time you'll look back and be glad you did it .

Ok, just got back from driving the sport evo and i wasnt impressed! There are scrapes and dents in the body and the interior was pretty tired. Also it was still on its german plates, so all the history was in german but it has not had any major work done on it apart from services.

Driving it did not live upto expectation either, i was expecting it to be a closer feel to the dtm car but it just wasnt. It didnt really feel any better than my cecotto.

Im definately going to leave it as there is no way i could afford the money to buy it and put all those things right in the near future.

I wont be looking around for any other sport evo either to be honest, the extras you get just are not worth the money IMO.

Im kind of glad because it would break my heart to get rid of my cecotto, im now pretty sure that there is no other car that could tempt me away from it.

Cheers for all the advice tho guys, much apreciated!

Ben a tough one, i've just had them same

sell my trusted 325i sport i'd drive to russia in 2moro

or go for an Alpina.

As much as i loved the sport, the pina made more sense. I'm far more likey to get a good return of it in a few years, compared to keep putting money into the sport

Same situ as the M3's

I'd go sport evo
