I've seen plenty of loving for the chips on the later cars, but not sure if the early ones are quite as effective?

Let us know!

You still can't pull away from me though.....
Anyway you need more power to make up for the lack of driver ability, when you've got 200bhp we should be about even.

just bought a wild chip for my E30 cab, hoping for some good response and some increases from it. Anyone got any realistic gains?

at last i got round to fitting my chip. had to mod the ecu slighty to change form 24pin to 28pin. thanks to hoshy and his dad.
170bhp before chip and 178.2bhp after.
more power seems to come in at 3200rpm
Am happy with it and would recommend it.

Holy Crap - 8 horses from a chip, thats quality!
Ant - If I buy one of these and drive up to your neck of the woods could you fit it by any chance please? mine is an early car as well so wouldnt fancy modding the pins on the chip too much.

thesaint - out of interest is your car modified in any other way? Could you give us an update on what affect if any the chip has on fuel consumption please. Cheers, Theo.

I had mine on Surry Rolling Road rollers before the chip went on. Once I do the after run I will report the findings on mine (might be a while as I have other things to deal with ). However I have a mild chip as I have an auto.
It does rip through the midrange though, you definately feed the change.

was 171 in 1986.
havnt had it in long enough to get a good idea about fuel consumption, but firend who have the zone chip in claim to have little differance.
Theo325 it is not modified in any way as far as i know, except the chip.
BBTB next, will post the power runs to up when i get a chance to scan them in.

Just had a bit of a hack and on the way home was on a nice straight road doing about 50mph. On it was a van then a 4X4 then a Jaguar convertible then me at the back . The 4X4 was itching to overtake the van and when the opposite lane cleared the 4X4 pulled out to overtake the van, I thought the Jag would go with it but no.
So ok hammer goes down, the car just surges forward, the 4X4 overtakes the van and pulls in, I take the Jag, van and 4x4 and pull in doing 90mph. Its almost like it didn't bother with 60, 70 & 80 and just jumped straight to 90.
That's what a Zone chip does for my car and its an auto.

178 BHP from a chip is quality.
BBTB and BTB 6 Branch should easily see you near 190BHP.
Go on, you know you want to be more powerful than your mate!
