I recently drive AndyP's 325i Auto Touring.

I didnt realise how nice these are to drive especially if, like me, its your everyday car and you do alot of in town driving.

I think I might get myself one!

Might be a good idea actually since my wife needs to drive my Touring from time to time.

I can always drive the M5 if I want some real fun.

my daily drive is now the my Ԛ£300 325SE, i love it. It's easy driving, bit of a slug compared to my old sport.

I nearly fall asleep on the m-way with the cruise and heated seats going on my way home from work!

I've changed loads of bits on the engine and the economy is surpisingly good. I'm averaging 25mpg overall and 30 on a run

Auto is executive especially with 4 doors and a rear blind!

just about to go out and mess in the rain with a 530i switchable auto

I have both a manual touring and one with the EH switchable auto. For the real driving experience, and certainly to get the most enjoyment out of the car, its the manual everytime!

But in traffic and commuting to and from work - the auto is far better. Plus the gearing is better suited for motorway work. Switching to Sport mode for rapid overtaking surprises many people! The old girl picks up her skirts and flies! 80 to 100 mph goes by very rapidly!!!

When all is said and done, it really depends on the mood and the journey -but if I could only have one, it would definately be the manual.

yes they really are great on the m-way. I think having 3 gears and an over drive is perfect. If it had 5 it would be changing up and down too much.

I've also noticed how smooth the changes are too

mine also flies when u slip into sports and it goes into 3rd the needle flies round from even 60ish to 100!

3.64 diff is what makes it so comfortable 90mph at under 3500rpm get in

my old sport would scream at 90@4000rpm!

Alpina has a 3.73 lsd fitted so it's the best of both worlds on her.

I reckon if u fitted a 3.91 to an auto 325i it would bloody fly!

I had a 3.9 i think in my auto.. 90mph was about 3.5k i think. Now got 4.1.. and not much difference, but it can get taily!!

Sal, pics?? Of what.. the box??

that would be a 3.64 mate. if it was a 3,91 it would be doing 4000rpm@90mph

Notice the "I THINK"

mate.. all i can say is, if you want to give someone advice.. fine.. but when you start saying people know absolutely nothing compared to you.. not just talking about JonB.. but Sal et al who took part in this discussion, People are going to think.. "what a bunch of tossers" and piss off to some other forum. Stay On topic, reply with what the poster wants to hear and take the rants about all this other crap to the pub!

Rant over.. sorry for the off topic!

jon and sal know their sh!t we just think it's funny to p!ss take each other in public somewhat is the honest truth. But as u have seen we often refer to our knowledge of E30 stuff to back our points of view

You should have said something at Lakeside as my 325i touring is auto (non switchable) Not sure about letting other people drive my car, re. insurance etc but I could have taken you for a spin to see how you like double kick down with a Zone chip. Actually had the MPG meter on the speedo read 0 today doing just that

I've just changed from an auto to a manual 325i touring and it's a lot more controllable but I don't half feel busy driving it!

My car is a auto and it is a real pleasure to drive everyday. i would like a manual for a weekend toy, but a auto for everyday. The fuel economy can suffer if u drive it in traffic everyday, but i dont so i i can live with the fuel economy.
