you will have no probs mate, i insured my m3 at 19, play around with the quote, try entering diffent variations like putting under your mum and dads names.
Also, play the companies off against each other, they will come down on price on a quote that is likely to be quite large

im 1300 on my own name with a years no calims tft on an IS
next year if ihave 2 years NCB i will be under my own name fully comp for 750!!
the first few premiums hurt mate but NCB is where it is at!

1300 with a years NCB is a bit tight on a 318is, my 325i costs less, under the same circumstances...

Got a great tip for getting cheaper insurance..
put your mum or a older women (family friend for example) as a named driver and it'll lower your insurance, i saved about Ԛ£200 putting my mates mum as a named driver on my policy:)

A lot depends on the area your in etc, but it shouldnt be too much of a problem. Try Flint Insurance. They are a small broker who operate out of bexley village in kent. I used to use them, i used them for when i was 19 with a modded 325i Sport.
01322 555 230. If your able to go and collect the paper work you'll see that they have some rather fit birds working there too!!

Yes i can second that one...I have always buggered about with insurance quotes for ages, in fact one could say i was obsessed.
in 8 months time i'll be 20 and have 2 years no claims and i've been doing a few quotes:
Firstly put that you have had a silly low quote from another company
Secondly use the above trick with your mum
Limit the mileage if you can to below 5000, a lot of companies don't ask for the starting mileage so they would never know.
Below 5000 is the threshold for saving a fair few Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£'s
I found that admiral were the best by quite a way followed by tesco.
All TPFT and 12 months annual(no acelerator rubbish):
535i sport - Ԛ£850
Volvo t5 saloon or estate - Ԛ£668(that is a quick car)
325 - about Ԛ£700 iirc
That seems all relatively cheap to me for a wee nipper, but just spend about 4 hours doing quotes and messing about, i'll be suprised if you can't save Ԛ£100-200 on a Ԛ£700 quote.

If you're 18 it will almost definitely be cheaper to insure under the name of a parent. If you make use of their NCB and pay the difference between what they were paying and their new policy with 0NCB I'm pretty sure that it won't be as much as having it in your own name.
Only downside is you'll be carless for at least one day of the week as whoever is the main driver has to do over 50% of the driving.
I've got 2 cars both insured under my Dad's name which costs about Ԛ£200 more than insuring the bigger-engined one in my own name, so I'm effectively insured fully comp on the 316i at 18 for Ԛ£200
This works out perfectly as I do less miles than my Dad in each car as he uses them for long commutes, so it's all legal as well.
You won't earn NCB obviously, but if you're able to insure under the name of someone older for a few years then it'll work out cheaper.

Perhaps try someone like PeterBest car insurance and insure it as a classic (if you can)
I've got all my no claims tied up on Turbo-Brown, but there's an outside chance that a mate's mum will be selling her E28 528i so I gave them a call.
For a 25yr old with no NCB to use, it was Ԛ£248 fully comp
EDIT> Just out of interest, when I was 19, I used to insure the GT6 with PeterBest for less than Ԛ£200 a year when everyone else was quoting over Ԛ£1500!

There are one or two benefits of getting older...
I'm 35

my 318iS costs me Ԛ£200 F/C ! with
www.elephant.co.uk but i do have a 'older woman'

named on the policy...............
With my van, trying to add my misses to the policy nearly doubled it! so she's not insured on that, i can tell she was gutted when i broke the news to her

insurance

I had a Tech 1 at 18/19 with 6 points - Ԛ£700-Ԛ£800 TPFT
HIC = 01279 506090 Always found to be cheaper when i was 17/18/19 years old.
Otherwise
www.confused.com is pretty good and saves you pratting around filling in forms each time.

I think you can now earn a no claims bonus as a named driver with direct line and norwich union, not positive though.

I'm 24 and tried to insure my 320i on classic, but kept getting told I need to be 25! Lancaster Insurance would do it, but not at a competitive rate compared to a standard policy. Defies the point of a classic policy really!

Im 18 and insured on my 325i

. It's about Ԛ£1400 TPFF which seems like a lot to you older guys, but my friend who passed his test a couple of weeks ago can't get insured on a 1.1 fiesta for less than Ԛ£1700....
