E30 Brakes - The Holy Grail

I have been talking with a very well known brake manufacturer and highlighted the gap in the market for a decent set of 4-pot front brakes for E30's that retain a 4 bolt stud pattern and can fit under 16" wheels (anything bigger ruins the handling imho). I am trying to get a more accurate idea of demand for a sub Ԛ£1000 kit. If you are interested let me know through this poll. We may be able to convince them it's a good idea

Is the Willwood kit not a good enough budget kit for you then?

Thing is lots of us run 15" BBS
E30 brakes arn't too bad anyway with decent fluid (SRF), pads (DS2500) and braided hoses.
ATE power discs help too

i suppose things change!!!
when i delt with them last (which was a few years ago) they did a prety good job, it was on a mates escort RST, we drove there, they measured everything up as he wanted to keep his original wheels, they then made up the kit and he whant back fo fitting a week or so later. never had any problems.

i priced the hi-spec 4 pot kit recently and it was coming in at Ԛ£675, that was with 320mm discs if i remember rightly.that was just the front mind you,are you talking about a kit for all 4 wheels? i find the standard size drilled/grooved discs with ebc redstuff ceramic pads are up to the job at the moment .what manufacturer are you thinking of using for your kit?

I have heard only bad things about Wilwood, warping discs etc. the general opinion seems to be that they are cheap for a reason but I have no personal experience other than several Kumho racers advising me not to bother with them.
I run standard BMW discs with Pagid yellow pads, Castrol SRF dot5, braided hoses etc and feed them a lot of air. This is great on the road and OK for trackdays (just about). After 5 seasons experience with Kumho and Milltek trying all sorts, this set up seems to be the best compromise as pads tend to last 2 events and Discs 3 or 4 when racing.
The company I am speaking to makes top end brakes for the majority of WRC, Toyota F1, IRL teams and the motorsport departments to Audi, VW, Brabus, Callaway, Prodrive, BMW etc etc.
The brake system will be for Trackdays and Motorsport use but designed to fit under 15" or 16" (many race series restrict the wheel size).
As I said if I can prove that the interest is there they will consider making a bolt on kit that will fit all 4stud E30's, surely this is a good thing for all E30 owners?

Not Alcon is it?

Yes it is Alcon. I've been speaking to a UK distributor about it for a short while who was unaware fo the E30 situation and wanted to know more about it with a view to getting a kit together - interested?

Hmmm all sounds promising.
I would just run braided hoses, some standard cross drilled discs and a set of high temp pads from either Mintex or Pagid. Unless your running huge power i would have thought they were up to the job.
You have to bear in mind that most people have their BM's as their daily driver. If you go uprating your discs and pads to something thats going to cope with repeated high speed braking you'll never get them up to temp on normal road driving, even spirited driving for that matter.
I think the word of the day here is COMPROMISE.
Still be interested to see whats on offer though!!

This is along the line of what I'm thinking. I would always want a fast road setup as, although its a luxury, it's still a road car.
I would like bigger discs though

I'd avoid cross drilled discs - they're prone to cracking
Grooved discs are the way to go if the std ones aren't up to the job and/or you need to allow gas to escape from between the disc/pad
