What are the views of the forum on this.
Does it damage our cars. Can we protect them from damage. Is there an alternative. Are there any substitutes or treatments which mitigate it’s effects. How best to store vehicles whilst not in use?
I’m worried about this & don’t know best solution, would like to hear your views.
Cheers

I dont use it at all in the e30 as it could damage the carb and lines etc and wont touch the stuff in the e46 325 ,.I use Sainsburys e5 97 octane super and shell 99 octane if the station is not busy.
Both cost a bit more but I get better mpg and better performance in the e46 so it does work out a bit cheaper for me.
E10 is just shit !!!

Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsburys all sell E5 super unleaded at reasonable prices, so just use that.
I dont put E10 in any of my cars

I would say modern fuel pipes are resistant to all these fuels all the way up to E85/E100. If you are still using 30 year old fuel pipes you are asking for trouble no matter what fuel you stick in the tank.
I run everything on the E5 super unleaded stuff too, except the car that runs higher boost with more ethanol

Govt. has guaranteed it for 5 years, after that its anyones guess.
I use Esso Supreme+ 99. It’s actually ethanol free unless you live in Devon, Cornwall, North Wales, North England or Scotland. It actually smells like old petrol we used to use. A few months ago their website used to say it was ethanol free except Devon or Cornwall but checking today it shows up all these other places!

I was on a bit of an experimental one so started using E10 fuel in the E30 and honestly can't feel any difference. I replaced all rubber hoses when I did the conversion and check them regularly and all seems well.

You will get reduced MPG because there is less fuel

I`ve been telling people this for ages now, even the super unleaded E5 is actually cheaper and so is the V-Power and all 99 octane fuels.
People just see the price of higher octane fuels and dismiss it out of hand without running a trial for a couple of weeks .
I wont put E10 in the E30 (carb) and the E46 is a much better car to run/drive for not using this "forced upon us" crap.
