Parked: One tire up on a block?

Howdy folks

Not sure if this belongs here or another place. Either way, it’s a bit of an odd question.

I’m doing some extended work in the engine bay on the old gal. I’ve left the car for a few weeks parked up with one tire on a block of wood aboit 20cm high. I only had the one block and didn’t think the car would be disassembled for longer than a week or so. We all know how these things go.

I need room to get the jack under the front subframe and so hence why i created some space for quick lifting as i progressed with my work day by day.

Question: Is leaving the car in this state going to damage the frame, put stress on welds, put the car out of alignment, etc?

Thanks, Jason

I'm not sure you can get a definitive answer on this. If it worries you then dont do it, or make sure both sides are equal. I remember an old car of mine I used to park half on a very high kerb outside my gfs, and i did sometimes wonder, especially as the engine bay would have heated the chassis, would it warp slightly. But it never snapped in half so it must have been okay right? :D

Easy way to see if it has moved is open the doors, if they catch a bit and dont open and close as they should then you are flexing the shell. Sometimes the doors still catch a bit when first put back on the ground. Two doors with long doors are obviously worse for it.

Personally I leave cars square on the ground but at the end of the day you are not going to do anything that same amount of time flat on the road won't undo.

This will not hurt the car. These cars are pretty stout and won't be bothered by any uneven block
