Hi everyone,

Crashed my sport last week and im gutted. It was a real minter, i have posed pics on here before under senna65.

I will post more soon.

It needs a frony wing and a bonnet only happened at 10 mph. Im just worried their market value will be very inaccurate.

Can anyone help me prove the car is worth at least 4k and so 800 repair should be reasonable.

Thanks

Ah mate, sorry to hear that, you're ok though, that's the main thing.

I sold mine recently as you know, but didn't actually advertise it officialy though, there's a couple of sports for sale on the BMWCC site, and there's 2 in total BMW this month, both well over 5k.

Best of luck in getting it sorted.

Cheers lads,

Ive added pics now, the guy who hopefully is repairing it once the insurance give the nod is a friend of the family who at the moment has Bonos Maserati in his garage!

He is the bees knees at repairs so hopefully it will back to its best soon. Will buy total BM though in case the insurance gets arsey.

Ill keep you posted.

Insurance said the car is worth 1400 WTF???

Need help showing them its true value, any appreciated

If that is all the insurance are prepared to value the car, then you will have to get all your bills, pictures (inc. meets you have been to), mot's and collect any information from the net of similar cars to justify a different value.

If you can get it past the 55-60% margin for the repair costs, then I dont see how they can argue!

I have often thought to get my car covered with a 'valuation agreed' policy, but never got around to doing it! I think I might enquire at renewal

Good Luck

my sport was killed as well. it was written off. top book was Ԛ£2000. ended up getting 2500. and bought the salvo back for 500.
had it jigged and new A frame door and stuff another 500
re spray 250
now doing the front struts. and engine rebuild.
along with putting the insides back in.
800 seems a bit steep just for the front wing.

You paid Ԛ£250 for a respray? Was that a total respray on the entire car?

250 for 3/4 of the car to be resprayed.would be 400 for total respray. she looks really sweet now she's all one colour again.in stead of red gold silver and burgendy

Sorry to hear about your accident mate. I would advise any one with an M3 or Sport to get a pre agreed valuation. I have learnt the hard way. I only got paid out 5.5k for my H reg m3 when you could only buy a early D/e plater for that money in the same condition. I supplied the extensive serivce history including engine rebuild and timing chain (apparantly this did not add any value to the car) and plenty of ads showing simliar cars around the 7k mark. They would not budge and have told me to go the the ombudsman to take it further. I am insured with Elephant.

I think I will do this on renewal - I am with Elephant too. What has been your overall experience with them in dealing with a claim!!

"I think I will do this on renewal - I am with Elephant too. What has been your overall experience with them in dealing with a claim!!"

They were very effecient in dealing with the claim and would reply to emails quickly during office hours. I asked them for copies of the engineers report etc and they were very helpful. Just wouldn't give me what my car was worth ie they go on book value rather than true "market value". They paid out quick too.

make sure you do get an agreed value. I have heard elephant do not do this. I think its better getting it insured under a classic policy. [/quote]
