Anyone else get wave's or thumps up when you're driving around in your E30?
Had two today, one from a red e36
And another from a BMW 1 series.
Are we now in a secret fraternity?
It does feel good though

Yup all the time, also get beeped at (in a good way).
It took awhile for my wife to get used to it, she would say "what are those people wave at, do you know them?"

I see. I thought it was only a VW thing, after selling my camper, I thought oh well that's it.
This is great

Had a beep today and people slow down and let me across when turning right !!!
I have found the younger and the older ones are the ones who turn their heads.
And yes we are part of a very special group indeed, and I love driving "Miss Daisey".
Mart.

I was in a traffic jam as the worlds leaders were leaving the D Day commemorations, a car stopped next to mine in it was the President of France, I could just see someone in the back seat looking at my car it may of been Emmanuel Macron I wonder if he thought is that a genuine sport, its a question I am often asked.

It's nice though. I like that feeling of being a bit exclusive in a time when everything is the same.

I love it, always breaking necks, shows how much people admire E30s. I think most people like the shape and im sure a lot of young people dont know what they are, probably never seen one on the road.

I was pleasantly surprised how much love the IX gets in Germany.
Got me out of a fine from the Polizei too.

E30 does attract the right kind of attention! Had a chap stop and come over and have a chat in my driveway whenhe saw me working on it, a few years later I noticed a for sale ad not too far away from me for 14" BBS and it was the same guy! He even remembered my car! My wife never used to believe me when I would say people always acknowledge E30s (she hates them) but popped into Tesco after an evening meal and a lady specifically stopped reversing out of the space she was in and commented how clean my car was! Vindication!
Thanks

Had two different guys ask me if mine was for sale today. Took it out for the first time in a while and first at the petrol station a guy filling up a guy insisted i take his number and call him if i want to sell and second a guy pulled up next to me at the traffic light and asked if it was a 330 and if i would sell it to him

that's nuts!
it's amazing the things people say and do, to people they've never met!

Was returning from a meet in the old Henna 323i I had and a Rover of some sort pulled up alongside - a husband and wife starting pointing at the car, thumbs up, waves - you name it. Thing is, I reckon they were both mid 70's or so!

I missed an opportunity to wave at a fellow E30 today.
Was in Colehill, Dorset ( visiting in-laws) and about 2pm a white 2 door, 318, very low! With pop our rear windows. Was two cars ahead of me, but turned into a pub or shop car park, very slowly.

Ive only ever had one guy who didnt seem to understand my excitement at seeing another e30 on the road. Pulled up alongside a very dirty 325 and beeped him and gave him a thumbs up. He looked confused and carried on driving

Parked in motorway services recently, stopped to get coffee, having a bad day.
Guy banged on window and I thought "here we go", wants cash, watch or something...
Turns out he just wanted to say what a great car the E30 is and how smart it looked!
Made me feel a lot better
(and bad about assuming the worst too...)
People respond so well to a little bit of nostalgia - it's great.
Best wishes to all
