Absolutely, make sure the cam pulley has the alignment groove exactly on the corresponding marker on the head and that the flywheel TDC mark is also accurately aligned.

Fit the cambelt around the lower crank splines and proceed anti clockwise, go around the idler and directly to the cam pulley - this should be tight - no slack at all, all the slack should be on the left side around the tensioner. Make sure nothing moves whilst doing this, or you could find yourself a tooth or more out.

After fitting the new cam belt and tensioned correctly rotate the engine clockwise a few turns and make sure the marks all line up again - remember the cam pulley makes half a turn for each full rotation of the crank.

If it stays aligned you are good to go, if you encounter any resistance to turning the crank other than a bit of compression - stop! your may have something not right with valves touching the pistons -
