Hi Mate,

Well, normally you would measure the height of the head to check if it has been skimmed before, should be 125.1 mm.

If the skim removes the maximum allowed of 0.3 mm ( 12 thou inch ) of metal, then a 0.3 mm over sized gasket is available. Any more
skimming will affect the compression / valve clearances from the pistons, and cause lousy running as well.

At least, that's the theory, so check the tolerances and skim info with your machine shop.

Paul :-)

Why did you skim the head?

Alternator belt slipping would not normally require this?

well it had overheated for a while while cruising on the high way without noticing and was producing a white smoke so sm advice was that its usually js better of skimming the head
