Hi all I am new to site so sorry if this is a common idea . Does anybody know if the passenger seat on a left hand drive would be the same as the driver seat on a right hand drive . Ive looked at a few interiors but most driver seats have seen are no better or worse than what im replacing but passenger seats are always OK . Hmmm not sure im making sense

richie - i've not proved it for myself but i have read several times that the two front seats are interchangeable. they're only 4 17mm bolts holding them down.

if it is just the covers that are worn out then try just swopping the covers from your left hand drive seat.....or because of the shipping costs from say germany get a price from the main dealers i have just been quoted 160.00 quid for a seat and backrest which are still available from bmw which was cheaper than buying one from say ebay.de
and paying the postage and chances are they will be pretty worn. the part numbers on the etk are the same for the covers be they left or right so they can be swopped. if you want to get some prices from
www.ebay.de then search for the word "sportsitze" and if they are leather try "leder sportsitze" hope this helps

I wrote up all this on the old forum and it's gone
Left and right seats are the same regardless of LHD & RHD.
You can also rebuild a left as a right. They don't just swap over though as the seatbelt and adjustment bits are supposed to be on the outside of the car. Knowing how to do it, it takes under an hour to remove, rebuild and replace.
From memory you have to: remove headrest, remove seat from car, remove seat backing (2 screws), remove seat back (2 screws), remove mech 'hub' covers on each side (2 screws & clips), remove adjuster translator arms (pull/pry out), remove adjuster plastic diagram bit (clips), upclip slide adjustment translation bar, remove height adjustment axle (2 bolts & a bit of tapping), unhitch slide rails (tap out 2 spring loaded clips) and finally remove the two mechanisms from the seat base (2 spring loaded clips and twist to removal notch).
This is for a 4 door seat, a two door seat will have those extra cables (ties to the last spring loaded clips). Sounds complicated, but it isn't really. I figured the above without instruction in an hour or two (& spare seat or two

)
You don't have to break anything or go messing about with cloth, sponges and pig rings. A screw driver, long nosed pliars and circlip pliar will do the necessary.
Thank you & goodnight. <bows & exits>

Wasnt there some talk about a year ago of getting in touch with a German e30 oc, and doing a seat exchange? Our passenger seats are their drivers seats and vice versa?

Does sound a bit complecated cros!
But i'm hoping to do this tomorrow, going to be swapping the mechanisms from my old sports cloth interior to my new sports leather interior. So i guess i just follow thos instructions then?
Cheers
