E30 Zone

I'm looking to treat the Touring to some new tyres in the spring and thought I'd see what recommendations are out there on modern rubber. Currently running Pirelli P6000's but they're getting old now! Also there's an e30 editorial coming up in Classic Car Weekly in the next few weeks and my Touring should be in it.
Should probably mention that they're 205/55/15's.

Uniroyal Rainsport 3 is my current tyre of choice. Currently £72 each from Tyreleader in that size.

I have the Uniroyals too, excellent tyre, light years ahead of P6000s.
50 profile though not 55. Also selling a nearly new set, see For Sale Section.

The Uniroyals are a cracking tyre as our Vredestein Sportracs if you can find them. Falken's ZE914 is the best of the cheaper options - the stiffer sidewall helps the E30 chassis IMO. Had a set on my E30 and also on one of my Compacts and they last well.

Camskill, Tyreleader and Oponeo are the three I check out when pricing up tyres.

Hankook Ventus are also a very good road tyre

If you don't mind taking it steady when it's wet then go for Toyo proxes, they stick like manure to a barn door in the dry.

These were a good tyre at the right price. Unfortunately, they don't sell them at the 'right price' any more.
I got on well with them, wet or dry, but a life of less than 5,000 miles makes them expensive now.

That's a really odd tread pattern on the Uniroyals. Is it a generic picture or is that how they are?

Yes that's how mine are, they have a one way fit one side faces outside

I’ve just got some 15”a bbs rims for my e30 what’s best tyre size for looks I was thinking 205/55/15 at the front and 225/55/15 at the back???. Help

I may have said this before but here goe`s, I have had three sets of budget tyres from ASDA tyres on line .
One for my last 330 se and one for my MV2`s and my posh summer wheels as well on my 330 sport this time.
I have been all around the country with these tyres , in the wet, dry,hot and cold ,fast and slow and they are exceptional tyres for the money.
I had to test them today when a Taxi pulled out in front of me @6.30am in the wet and cold and they did not let me down one little bit.
Just a thought.

I have been buying my tyres from Boss Tyres, quick & cheap. Bought some cheap oversize All Terrains for my CRV, didn't expect miracles at £50 each, but, they are superb, the ride, grip and they have lasted well, on over 10k so far and have just swapped the fronts to the back. Backs barely worn. irrelevent I know, but just pleased with the service and quality from these people.

Uniroyaly Rainsport 3, £64 there.

I some cases fitting is included in the price, and the supplier has an arrangement with tyre fitters near to you, or , if fitting is not included, you have to find someone to fit them for you.
As I said above, the Uniroyal Rainsports don't need tools to fit them.

Anything but! I have Donald Trump hands.
I have an electric/pneumatic tyre fitting machine in my workshop, but when fitting Rainsports the only part I use is the clamps on the table that hold the wheel rim still. A bit of lube, and the Rainsports just push over the rim.
With the Falkens I used before the Uniroyals, they were a struggle to get on, even with the full facilities of the tyre machine.

That's quite impressive, whenever I watch my tyres getting fitted they usually look really tight on the machine.

More impressive would be to watch you blow them up without a compressor

You may be able to get the new tyres on by hand but how about getting the old ones off?

I've found my local (Aylesbury) ATS Euromaster will fit NEW tyres onto wheels, even if they didn't supply them. (I've also found them to be very good for other services too - like tracking and checking stuff out on ramps FOC/lending me tools (to be used onsite) when I've needed them.

Other indie garages no doubt will too.
