M30 manifold

Hey peeps,

Has anyone ever tried these on their M30? I know there's not much gains to be had etc etc my main issue is if they will fit?

They say LHD specific and I'm wondering if there will be any room for the steering linkage?

If you know of any other place that does M30 6 branch for a good price feel free to comment! :thumb:

No chance in an e30 mate, Fritz bits are the only company who sell right hand drive compatible m30 6 branch manifolds in the uk as far as I know. It's a super tight fit even in an e28/24 platform and even that design isn't ideal when compared to the equal length offerings for a LHD car. There's a possibility of having one custom one made, but there isn't enough room for any design which would benefit performance wise over the original cast log.

I thought as much! Thanks for the input mate!

BTB also do a RHD compatible 6 branch. No idea if it would work with a purple tag/e36/z3 rack though.

What a work of art that is!

BTB 41mm primary 6 into 2 tubular manifold for installing 3.5litre engine into E30 - £592.65

Compared to how much I'm seeing people pay for custom jobs that doesn't sound too bad at all tbh!

This is another issue..I might message them and see what they come back with!

Cheers for that :thumb:

Interesting! I wonder if that would work in an e28 also? Or if the steering set up would still foul it all up

Keep us posted. It's the only thing stopping me from buying one

I've wanted a 6 branch for as long as I can remember..The only thing I never thought about was the purple tag rack..

Now I'm wondering if I would compromise the rack for the manifold! lol

Hoping it won't come to that winkeye

The standard manifold flows fine and will only be a problem with a fair bit of headwork. Give me a faster rack over a manifold any day

Headwork may be in the pipeline mate 8)

I will be honest and say I really am itching to fit my E46 rack but as the old saying goes you don't miss what you've never had lol

E46 racks transform the car, the manifold won't

I can imagine how good that will feel!

To fit mine I need to modify the downpipe anyway so if the BTB manifold fits I could kill 2 birds with one stone lol
(as if anything is ever that straight forward on an E30)

:snigger:

Mine has a six branch on it but it has been cut & shut a fair bit to make it fit, I had a quote for a custom one £1200 approx from (reccomended) http://www.fastroadconversions.co.uk/ in Ashford Kent it would be about £2000 for the full system.
I was saving for it but since then the washing machine and oven packed up and now my eldest daughter is getting Married so it's all on hold now while my bank account gets raped. :D

build quality is good, a mate runs one on his e24 (which is LHD)

not sure if they offer a RHD versions and for e30 fitment.

it may be worth giving Iain Hamilton a shout, as he has a 333i which may have a 6 branch. it could be copied ???

The 333i would have used early Alpina B6 manifolds.

Build quality on which manifold Kos..the one pictured or the btb?

I'm still waiting for a reply from them anyway so no rush lol

I think I would have to go for the BTB as the schmiedmann was only made for LHD.

Is BTB on facebook? I messaged the email address i got from their site..

I'm guessing the btb won't fit in the 28/24 platform because of the steering right Kos?

I can't help with the manifolds mentioned but I'll be using some racing dynamics headers which have been modified to fit in the e30(originally of a e34 535) and also use e46
Rack.

I've bought some mounts of 300mm.de which help with clearance with a 6branch so worth a look on their site unless your sure your mounts will work, I'm currently prepping the engine so I'll post some pics if all goes well.

Abit late but these are my modified e34/32 modified racing dynamics headers, the manifold closer to the bulkhead has been extensively modded.

Had to slightly grind the 300mm.de mounts and shorten some of the manifold studs, fits great with the purple tag rack cars in storage now so will take pics when it’s out.

That is a work of art!

Modifying my manifold so I can fit my purple tag Steering rack is one job I badly want to do for next year!

That looks better than mine, mine have pipes welded to meet the front box under the drivers seat.

I just spent most of today changing the manifold gaskets on mine, had to jack the engine up and two mates lever the engine over to get the rear half off as one stud was just not going to come out, so cut it as short as possible.

I modified the manifold with a slot on the lower stud hole on cyl 6 so it will slide over the stud so I can do it just by jacking the engine up in future, still had to do most of the studs with the manifolds in place :)

Sorry to jump in, I heard from BTB today, they don't know if the manifold fits with an e46 or e36 rack, updated prices though, stainless steel manifold is £1100, full system is £1306, both plus VAT and postage!!
