a whinge...

so i get back to my car in the car park and when i'm closing the door, i notice some dirt out of the corner of my eye..... so i get out to look at it and lo and behold, the front section of my shadowline trim is missing, including and up to the clip!

whilst trying to figure out if it was a vandal or a personal attack, i can't help but thinking that a random vandal would not think to remove the trim ...carefully at that, and not have a go at the c2 badge. so proper c@nt has taken it because the wanted it! what an @rsehole........really pissed me off!

i'm glad there was no real damage, but basically another E30 owner has taken the piss :x

Common problem for them to come off at speed mate, especially if they have been removed and refitted at some point, maybe it came off before you parked?

at speed! what are you suggesting officer?
i do get a 70mph stretch to work, but would i not have heard anything if it came off, i would have thought it might have started flapping first, no?

i didnt see any damage but that's a god call, i'll have another look today for marks....without those, who knows....it has been on the car for at least 3 years with no issue. with regular washing, i think i would have noticed it being a bit loose. they do get a light polish before summer shows to get rid of build up of dirt.

certainly is a mystery........a very odd piece to go missing. perhaps i was hasty to blame another owner, maybe it was elves.

Common for this to come off at speed and I've had it happen to me. I did notice it go, but it would have been easy not to have if I'd been concentrating elsewhere.
Trim is held on by a couple of spring steel clips pushed onto the seam, and the trim falls off when these are almost completely rusted away and collapse.
Happened to my MOT man on his E30 as well, and a replacement trim on the back seat when my E39 went in for it's last test ensured that the ensuing test was, shall we say, very non invasive.
