Hi I have been on here before but yet to own my dream car an e30.

One has came up local to me and after an insurance wright off I'm in the position to buy a cheap one.

The car in question is a 1990 316 m40 b16 4 door around 110k only guessing as clock gears have went and going by last mot mileage and previous years mileage build up around 5k a year.

It's motd till April but pretty sure it's a bit of a dodgy mot as some of the rust definitely hasn't appeared in that time.

The bad bits are front and rear balance considerably rusted and need replaced, rear top lip of rear end where it meets the boot door along the rain channel is pretty bad and is letting in a lot of water.

Rear outer arches one has been reshaped from filler (pretty sure that's all it is and other side is not too bad but is definitely on it's way out.
As for inner arches the center part of the arch (straight up) and back towards the outer arch lip is pretty much gone.

The rear boot battery tray has a hole but that looks pretty simple to weld another plate in.
The area that joins the nsf strut and bumper area has a hole but not within 6" of the strut mount itself.

The scuttle panel has had a repair on ns.

Some good areas from what I can see is the floor looks pretty good couldn't see any holes, has original "jacking points, sunroof and roof looks good, engine seems to run ok little tappety from cold good other wise, current owner has just serviced it but no history of last belt change, previous owners says it's just had a new clutch.
Interior is pretty good cracked dash but upholstery is clean and no rips etc.

For this I am paying £650 and will be using it as my daily runner while fixing it up do you think this an ok buy?

All I've read is £650, 4 door, 316 insurance write off.

Run, and fast!

Sorry I should have been more clearer, it was my previous car that was written off not the e30

It is a rotten, least desirable model at a fairly strong price and with a moody MOT history by the sounds of it. Save your money and buy a good one, it will be MUCH cheaper in the long run

Buy the best one you can afford- a cheap E30 will end up costing you a fortune in the long run - unless your looking for a resto project.
