Hey chaps,

I've finally started my e30 restoration :-)!!

So first question is, what's the easiest way to remove the insulation under the hood, especially that sticky residue that's left behind as it's going to be painted.

the problem is more so the sticky glue that left behind. So any ideas are greatly welcomed:-)

Thanks

I used a hot air gun on the lowest setting and a plastic scraper. Once it gets a bit warm you can push the glue into a lump then pull it off.

I think Barry suggest the best removal item was toyota's brake fluid to remove the gunk..

Toyota brake cleaner not fluid!

Brake fluid will strip the paint.

That isn't going to help the paint, you may as well use the fluid.

Brake cleaner, as corrected above, is the best solution.

I pulled mine off and then used petrol painting it on with a paint brush.
Obviously must be done outside due to fumes and risk.Use good quality PPE
