One of my shocks is leaking and needs to be replaced and I'm wondering which brand of shocks to go for?

I will be fitting a set of Eibach lowering springs while changing shocks. The springs came of my old e30 and had caused a sump or 2x to get bust, I didn't think the springs were that low to causes this and always thought that maybe the shocks were a bit crap. Can this be avoid with certain shocks, what am I looking for?

Bilstein are good, B6 or B8 for lowered cars though

Are there any alternatives to bilstein? A pair of b6 socks are the guts of 300 quid which I can't really afford right now.

I might out in some old b4 I have and not lower it until I can afford something better

I knew I had 2x pair of socks on the shed, one set are Bilstein (b4 I think) the other pair are Sachs. They are a bit shorter, would they be to short for a small drop (eibach springs, not sure if drop) or will it be fine? Shorter better?
