The zone really appears to be dead in the water at the moment. Four posts in the last 3 hours, and this seems to be the norm these days. I suppose everyone's on facebook? Shame

So what's so great about the zone facebook page? I've never seen facebook in any guise so can't comment but surely this forum is the original and best?

Close the Facebook page and direct them to the forum, job done.

From what I gather (I'm not on facebook) it's a free for all. Things go on there that would not be tolerated here. As Nobby has jokingly stated, there are a lot of vermin, council types on it. You certainly would not want to direct them here.

NI-BMW tried that, didn't work.

Their site was shite pre Facebook, pre Facebook was zone was great.
As for the council types, there can't be anymore today than what there was years ago, especially considering the e30 is becoming far from a cheap car to buy.

For shows we are, it gets traffic over
If you look at some of the other larger BMW Forums they've all suffered
At least we have a FB page and it's run the same way as we run the forum

Do users get unsubscribed from the facebook group if they don't post? I was on their for a bit, didn't post and don't seem to be able to get back in? I've clicked to join, but it just shows up as pending

It was good sport watching Pacer at work

The province is too small, we just don't have the numbers.
That said, GTINI does have the numbers but their forum is dead too.

People are lazy and attached to their smart phones, sitting down at a computer or laptop is too much like hard work

Sure the zone is quieter, but I still enjoy reading the posts on here.
The zone gave me a load of inspiration in the early days and still does. I keep adding to my build posts also.
Shame that FB has resulted in this really, but that's just the way of things.

The same thing has happened to most the car forums I used to use. This is one of the few that has survived and not just died off completely and thats probably due to the older members this site is not just supported by the xbox generation who are as said, glued to facebook and smart phones where forums dont work so good.
I like the fact that the page is still here I dont post much as I dont have much to say but ive had so much advice and learnt so much e30 wise from the place the wiki and the knowledge of some on here is excellent.

I'm still on here most evenings, mostly reading build threads but don't have much input while I work abroad. Shame it's so quiet now.

I was a member back in the day but sold my much missed beauty (in my eyes) .I renewed my love of the model this year by buying a what now turns out to be a bit of a lemon but I've spent too much now to stop and this forum has to be the best for advice information. Some members names I recall and it's good to see that there's still an interest if not more for possibly the best model BMW ever produced .

There is more knowledge on here, and I do like this forum for the help advise fixes etc.
I only use my iPhone to come on here so aside from putting photos on, it works a treat for me with it.
There isn't any plans to shut down is there...... Hope not, my turd isn't finished yet..

we need to keep this place going,
true the FB page has taken over a bit, but it does help if you have a problem & need help/advise asap.
the main draw back of FB is that you will always get a numpty (or a dozen) coming on to your thread trying to be clever & it all descends into chaos (bit like this place).
i come on here most days, post a couple of times a week, but mostly just read the build threads,
as for other forums going down the pan have a look at e30tech, gone altogether, only seems to be the FB page left now & that seems pretty quiet as well.
to all those who haven't/aren't on FB you ain't missing much, pictures of folk's cats/dog's/breakfast etc.
members of the flat earth society, conspiracy theorists, & general attention seekers.
long live the e30zone

I couldn't agree more!
If I wanted to see peoples cats/dogs/breakfast, I would be on FB, but I'm not.
I joined this as I'm working on the E30 I purchased earlier this year. I am very much hoping to find some hints and tips to help me doing what I'm doing.
Here's hoping!

you'll find what you are looking for on here, if need be use the search function if you know what terms to use.
plenty of advise/hints/tips/help on here, can just take a while to get an answer.

I rarely post on here, but I browse every few weeks and the quality of posts on here are far superior than on fb. I used to 'like' the e30zone FB page but I got so fed up with what is wrong with my car or what do you think of this and the general lack of intelligence. The only thing the Facebook pages are good for are the specific parts or cars for sale pages. The 2 forums I follow, this and 205gtidtivers are both down on posts. But that doesn't mean there isn't some descent reading material. When I've got the house done I will drag the sheet off to beemer and get stuck in. But for now this place keeps me inspired.
