Hi can anybody help me by explaining what the "ET" on wheel size means?

The wheels i am considering for my car are 5x120, 17x8 et20. (Bbs rc090)

My car has e36 front struts and e36 compact rear trailing arms so i know i need 5x120, but am lost with what the other dimensions should idealy be.

Will these wheels work? If not what sizes should i be looking for?

I dont want the wheels to stick out much wider than my arches.

Thanks in advance

Brilliant thanks mate i will take some measurements before i commit to buying!!

With spacers im pushing the wheels track further out, will this make the car drive awful or is it a unoticable diference?

Also you will need spigot rings to convert the wheels so they stay centralised.
The hole in the middle of a BBS rc090 is 74.1mm and most bmw hub sizes are 72.5mm so you would require the 4 rings. Not more than a tenner for a set.
Something like this

Thanks the wheels im looking at come with spigot rings so that shouldnt be a problem...
Im more concerned about the wheels or tyres fouling the suspension strut or not being able to do full lock on steering etc..

Any body got these fitted on their car here???

I got them on my m3 but obviously the arches are wider. I would assume they would sit out far on a 318/325, but others will chime in and tell you.

They'll be fine, you just need to run the correct tyre choice.

225/40/17 would give you about the correct rolling radius.

go onto the www.willtheyfit.co.uk site and put in the tyre sizes form oem to the 17"
