What the ...... Car Cover has Ruined my Bonnet!

Last week I put the car cover onto my car when my car was wet. This sounds like a school boy error but my convertible roof leaks. When I took the cover off I was horrified by the bonnet. It looks like my car is turning into a ninja turtle. I have left it for 4 days and it looks no different. If I scrub the surface then nothing changes. What should I do? My friend at work reckons getting a heat gun on it but I don't fancy burning my bonnet. Cheers Image :x :x

If your car is painted in what's known as direct gloss or solid colour as its sometimes known, I.e paint without laquer then that will buff up

Sorry for the late reply. The bonnet was really quite faded before. So the dark marks are the stains from the car cover and the light (white marks) are how it originally was. The car cover was £10 and the quality wasnt great. It ripped the first time I put it on! So the white marks aren't from the car cover.

I think the car paint is original so definetly not been resprayed in the last 6 months. The paint was faded alot before and I should have really polished it, but Ive been sorting the mechanicals first (like cam belt change)

Don't want to sound stupid, but by buff do you mean use a rag and some car polish or do you mean use one of the buffing machines? Cheers.

I sorted a bonnet like that recently, did it by hand with G3 compound. Tip from a detailer I know was to first wipe the surface with thinners. With a proper mop it would've been quicker but a few hours work had it sorted (944 bonnet, probably similar size to an E30)

Thank you, what is the difference between a T-cut and G3 compound? Thanks

G3 is more aggressive than T-Cut
