Bubble leather or cardinal red interior?

Recently picked up my first e30, it came with motorsport bubble leather, but i'm quite tempted by cardinal red as i think it'd suit the black better and bubble leather really belongs in a motorsport!

Opinions? and anyone got pictures of cardinal red or other leather interiors different to the grey/black.

Am i right in thinking they'd be of similar value as they're both so rare?

Heres my car as it is (yes the fake alpinas are going - need some 15" basketweaves)

I am not a fan of dark interior on black cars. I think red or lighter colour would look better. I had mine retrimmed to this:

If the bubble leather seats are in good condition you are sitting on a gold mine, stick it on eBay and you'll probably raise enough to get a retrimmed cardinal red interior for your car.

elan that in unbelievably nice. Is that cardinal red or a non oem colour?

The seats are pretty smart, it looks like the leather on the fronts have been retrimmed, just the rear door cards are a bit shabby, and the passanger seat doesn't fold forward. Whats the going rate for these, haven't ever seen any for sale

That's the point, they are never for sale. I'd say on eBay you'd get over a grand, possibly more.

I like red in a silver car but i think its a bit pimpy in a black car. Tan would look nice.

Without the consoles I doubt they are worth a bag.

Yeah, tan was another option i was considering, but probably even harder to get hold of without retrimming a set yourself.

What do cardinal red interiors go for, about £800-£1k?

Should be an easy fix to get the passenger seat to fold and there are loads of rear cards knocking about, you should be able to get one to match.

True and i agree as both my cars have contrasting interiors. But if you are going to keep it as an original classic then having the original and rare interior wins.

Don't think the OP's is a Motorsport, so it's a retrofitted interior. Worth mega bucks :D

Red interior is the nuts right now, but they dont stretch to red carpet these days, just red seats and door inserts. They could do better...

Thanks. I looked for decent set of cardinal red seats for a long time without any luck. I retrimmed the seat in a colour closest to Cardinal red. Red does look different depending on the light.

It's not a secret Ben :D I will PM you his contact details.

I have given a bit of details of Junior Grant who did the retrim and photos of his work on this thread (last few pages):

I am not sure if he appreciates his mobile being plastered here! Also he doesn't tend to take a lot of work on at the same time.

If you mean the car with Hartges on it then not any more. It now belongs to another zoner local to me who hardly posts and i have done a lot of work to it.

All B-trim did was re colour the leather and its now showing signs of age.

The current owner has spoken about getting B-trim to actually retrim it though.

Yes B-trim are very good.

I have used them for my old interior that Kedge now owns plus for an interior in the owner of ML's E30 cabrio.

Kos's 6 is in with them now.

And yours and Kos's mate Ratch had his interior done by them! :)
