Broken BMW 335 Cabriolet - Help! - whats it worth

Due to lack of replies, thought I might shortern it a bit... Please could you help to give me a rough guide of what my car might be worth...

I have a 320 Cabriolet with an M30b35 Engine Conversion however I believe that the cylinder head is warped and the blocks got low compression in the middle cylinders. Car was running and had MOT up until around 6 months ago, its all in fairly good order with bodywork needing some cosmetic fettling but underneath all sealed and no rust in the usual places.

Long and short as I cant figure it out as prices seem to be all over the place at the moment, do I
1) Sell the car as spares or repair - what am i likely to get?

2) Get another engine, get it swapped over then sell it all running nice & MOT’d. What would a MOT’d 335 cabriolet with slightly shoddy bodywork (its mainly different shades of white) obtain?

3) What would it potentially be worth with a fully working engine, MOT'd and the bodywork looking sharp and clean?

As i say, i know that they’ve been appreciating however its tough to get an idea of value so any ideas would be welcomed....

Thanks Barry

If you do break it I might be interested in your interior, especially if it looks as good as it does in the photos.

If it was me I would swap the engine, fix the rust and forget about the M3 rep.

Sell the parts on put the money towards the restoration.

What do you think a M30b35'd Cabriolet (the conversion looks really well done) with a good interior, Proper paint and rust free be worth?

Only downside is that its had 14 owners. I think it went through about 5/6 at the time of conversion as Martin (previous owner) tells me everyone struggled with the wiring and actually getting it running right.

Modified car = resale nightmare, but you know that ! :( I reckon 1k ish on a good day as it stands, 2k ish up and running with a MOT. Put it on ebay as a no reserve 10 day auction with an accurate description and lots of pics, the market will soon tell you how it values it !

how about converting it back to a 320i? saves the cost of getting another m30b35, you can sell the m30 bits to someone else - and you may get better return on the whole lot as its back to standard!

Exactly what I was going to suggest, but Quaser just beat me to it.
There are still deviants out there wishing to take an E30 back to the stone age, and the conversion bits aren't that readily available in the UK, so a p&p kit could sell well.

A tatty 14 owner 320 is not going to have the victims fighting at your door and a pile of ailing M3 bits are unlikely to pay for the COMPLETE M20 drivetrain needed to carry out the folly of returning it to 320 power.

Get it on ebay and get it gone.

Thanks for the advice, I hadn't been on the forum or e30 circles for a while... Getting it back to a 320 surely would be much more work then slotting in a new lump... I'm just about to go and pick up a new MOT'd late E32 735 running car but its in Scotland!

But if I can get shot of the E30, I quite fancy driving that about for a while :)

I have just seen them for sale for ridiculous money - they may never sell at that money I know but there's one at the moment on gumtree for £7k... Looks like they are simply mental...

I think that eBay will be best but I might just get xmas out of the way first and try maybe late Jan / Early feb...

Pacer - what are the M3 bits worth? 2 x front wings & rear 1/4? I think I had the rear 1/4 off you LOL...

Thanks for your help
