plugged my diagnostic machine in the port to try and read values on some parts of the engine but the reader is being blocked and cant access the ecu ?? my abs light comes on now and again dont now if that could cause it not to read?

any help would be great !!

What kind of diagnostic machine are you using?
Pre-OBD2 BMWs are fun and games to read.
