Were Tech 1 steering wheels only an option on Tech 1 era cars? Therefore not to be found on anything around 1990?

Tech 1 wheels were standard fit on 318iS's so up to '91 on those.

Yes an option on anything.
Even early tech2 325i sports had a tech 1 steering wheel.

That re-trim is nasty 
Some NOS appears from time to time, I'd hold out for something like that.

I'm more concerned about how the new leather meets the centre & covers the "gaps" that make it clear it's a 370mm. There was a guy on here selling a boxed new one.. think he wanted silly money though!
