Got this as well, works fine and much quieter then old one. Just one tip, when tightening it in place (top nut outside) be careful as even a bit too much force will make one of the rings underneath (inside the car, that is slightly greyer in that e bay pic, below that roundish part) crumble, dunno what its made of but I had to use some spacers instead of it...

Talking about aerials, I've got the non-electric one on mine and it's kind of bent, which makes me think that's the reason why the radio reception is crap.
I have bought this replacement >

But haven't got around to replace it yet...I assume nothing complicated?

The most annoying part I found is removing trunk trim... Other then that refiting areal is not hard really.
But looking at that pic it might not fit e30... As far as I know none of e30 had roof areal. I read online some use areal from Z models (they are not electric/telescopic)

I bought a universal chrome electic aerial off eBay, less than £20 and works as good as a bmw one.
Lots of fittings and lined up ok with the bodywork mounts.
Only think if recommend is a rubber gasket to stop dribbles of water leaks and a long drain tube into the Flap where the sunroof drain goes ...

You're obviously not familiar with touring and M3 models then!

Is it possible to get a replacement for just the antenna part of the electric aerial? i.e. without the whole drive mechanism.
