looking for some advice on my recent m50 swap
engines a m50b25 vanos was told it was 110k miles on removal from a 525i e34 auto but had been robbed of its manifold and sump for a m52 conversion so long story shot its been sat around in a garage for a year plus with no sump or inlet on it. obviously it now has all of these bits and is in my e30 now but it has a strange combo of tappet noise, vanos rattle ,and timing chain noise when given some abuse .was fully serviced prior to being put in with 10/40 semi synth . the other thing is when driven casually for a few miles it goes silent not a rattle, tap anything sounds perfect :?

and im also after a m20 facelift coding plug if any are for sale my revs are going crazy  Image

Thats an early vanos engine so will need the vanos upgraded shims/bolts/spring washer to cure the noise.
For what its worth though I wouldnt bother, its obviously done a hell of a lot more miles than 110, will cost a small fortune to fix the timing chain/sprockets and you can pick up a 2.8 for a couple hundred
