E30 Zone

Hi all

Poking around my E30 325i today I found the rear left passenger floor around the small circle panel is pretty poor in condition , can you get floor repair sections or panels ? Anyone else done there's or is it simply cut out and weld a patch in ? Corrosion is from the circle panel outwards around about 3 inches max .

The panels are available separately from the dealers ( not to expensive) and are seam sealed in .

The round panel itself is replaceable, but if the edge of the hole is corroded then you'll need to fabricate your own patch out of 0.8mm steel.

Nah, my rear floor was probably the only part of the shell that didn't get any welding. Still, the resto link is in my signature if the OP is interested.

How much does it devalue a car if it gets say new rear arches quarter panels battery area etc ?

Ha no what I meant is if for example you have a sport 100k miles, 1 owner , never been welded/restored, no rust etc that's worth 10k and then you have sport same mileage owners etc but it's been restored with new rear arches and quarters but done to high standard like e30 topless beardtmatt would do with all work documented etc
how much lower would the price of the restored one be ?

Ok thank you everyone for the help , I'm going to get some material and carry out a repair , I will post the results so let's hope my welding is still good enough !

It's a completely arbitrary factor that's impossible to quote. Some people will pay more for a car with documented repairs, others will pay less. Of course, factory-fresh cars that have never been repaired will always be worth more, but it's incredibly unlikely that you'll find a car like that, with no rust, but 100k on the clock.

I love 'incredibly unlikely ' . Gives me some confidence to go and look at getting mine done properly.

Always get any work done properly - bodges get found out and you won't have to pay twice for the same work in a shorter space of time..

normally i would go for bodge and cheap but this deserves a proper job. I just looking for someone around manchester who can take it on, but I want it documenting so when its does go , new owner knows that they are buying a decent one.

My repair is all done and looking perfect , very happy result !
