Blown Fuse Maybe

Evening Zoners,

Today I set of for work in the morning in the old girl. Everything was fine arrived to work an hour later and parked her up.

In the evening I was set to go else where to a friends house. I did not know how to get there so he gave me his post code and I plugged the tom tom in to the cigarette lighter connection.

Ten minutes into my journey the tom tom battery stop charging and the tom tom light dimmed. Which was strange.

I arrived just about with what little battery life was left in the ole tom tom.

I parked up and also noticed that after switching engine off and the key out the ignition I open my doors and test if the electric windows would go down and nothing where as before this would work fine.

I think it may be the cause of a blow fuse but im not sure?

If this is the case which fuse would i need to replace ?

The car is a absolutely standard 1990 318iS.

Thanks
Jon

If it is a fuse then possibly 28? Worth checking to see if the Fuse looks blown.

Check for any metallic debris in the bottom of the lighter socket.

Did just this and I found allot of dirt and grit inside the lighter socket. This was rather surprising considering i do not and never have smoked.

I only every use the lighter docket to charge my phone and to use the tom tom on the rare occasion I am going to a place i have not been to before.

I cleaned it out and now it is all put back together.

thanks for the advice/helps guys.
