Are they any good or just marketing hype ?
Any tried and tested reviews ?

Never rated EBC I've had red and green. Greens didn't seem any better than standard pads. Reds squeak when cold and I managed to cook a set on a B road blast. Also with ebc the powder coat on the pads is always way too think and needs filing to get the pads in properly.
Ferrodo DS2500 is what I last used in my E30, never managed to cook them. They are a very metallic compound, they kill discs also plenty of brake dust.
Just my opinion though

Turned my yellows into charcoal after a b road blast, wouldn't use them again although they have apparently improved a lot.
+1 for DS2500's, I use 3000's (track only, but not too bad from cold) and a friend uses DS2500's in his 750hp Evo x and loves them

I used the EBC grooved and dimpled discs once (with green pads). The discs lasted only a few months before the surface started to crack between the grooves and dimples and I didn't drive hard a lot, just the occasional B road blast. I changed them after I noticed the cracking and haven't used EBC since.

I use standard discs, either EBC or whatever GSF supply, with EBC green pads.
Just fitted new discs/pads to the front of the touring,I took off the same combination...they had lasted 5 years/50K+ miles.
The touring had new rear brakes a while back, took out Padgid pads and fitted EBC green with new standard discs, the padgid pads,on the rear, remember, only about 40k miles.

You get 50k miles to a set of pads?

Ive said it before but......Having used various different combos over the years I am very impressed with EBC. I run yellowstuff with their own discs and after 2 years of use and 2 track days they are still performing very well! I can assure you they have had a lot of abuse too!

I'm currently using EBC 'OEM' discs and yellowstuff pads (and new fluid!).
Would rate them both as pretty average tbh, though it may be the discs letting them down, from what I've read before.
Discs seemed to warp a bit at the start, but went straight again after a bit of use (brake judder came, then went again!!!) and are now fine.
Pads are better than I expected from cold, but don't really seem to get any better when hot either. Not the best brake setup I've had by any means!!!
Best I've used was OEM discs from stealers and Ferodo DS2500 pads!!!

My current set up is EBC drilled and grooved discs F&R and greenstuff pads.
I am not confident in the braking both cold and hot.
I have also noticed a large volume of brake dust.
I will re-look at the installation to confirm the issue is pads (as suspected).
I am debating between EBC yellowstuff (previously been satisfied by this set-up) & DS2500's.
Is anyone is running EBC discs with DS2500's?

The disc's are probably your problem,try old-fashioned plain one's.

Im using ebc corrado g60 drilled disks and ds2500 it stops on a dime, I used the disks with red stuff and it was crap!!

I forgot, I had EBC discs on for 2 weeks but I got them hot (I'm not talking track hot, but the pedal was going long) and pulled into a mates who wanted to sit in the car and have a look. Daft pr!ck left his foot on the brake and they warped really badly. Not really a fault of EBC but they weren't great anyway

While there appears to be a lot of debate on EBC pads, there's
more confidence and good reviews over the EBC/DS2500
combination.
Having spent a pretty penny on the EBC discs, I'm inclined to
give the above combination a try before anything else.

We get far better customer feedback on DS2500 than EBC Yellow/Red etc....

Not completely relevant as this is for my E39 touring but I fitted new pagid discs and pads last year and they are now nearly out, less than 20,000 miles, 2 days after washing the car the wheels are black with dust, im hacked off TBH, they were never that bad when I used to run them on my daily E30 years ago, im thinking they have changed the compound with the ECP/Pagid connection, for the worse obviously...

DanThe - I remember buying a set of Pagid 'fast road' pads a while back for my E36. Good bite certainly but were as dusty as a dusty thing. I think I paired them to Brembo Max discs (do they still even make these?)
I've read plenty of negative reports re EBC for me to avoid them.
I've always found OEM ATE discs/pads from ECP to be adequate. Of course, if you are tracking your car, that's a different ball game.
