E30 Zone

Hello everybody,

Simply What wiper blades do you all recommend ?

Living here in London I see myself using my wipers more then leaving my windows down.

Currently I am using some very standard old Bosch wiper blades which to be honest work well under 60mph and more than that the they start to skip of course this is motorway driving only.

is there anyother slightly more weighted blades that would not jump around while travelling on the motorway?

Are they spoiler blades?

Are the springs in the arms working properly, and the joint in the arm completely free of corrosion?

If they've never been done, then take the arms off the car, hold the car end in a vice, and squirt some wd40 in the joint and rock them forward and back a few times.

Sometimes the arms seize up slightly so the blade can't keep full pressure at higher speeds.

Personally I've never had an issue with Bosch blades, but they never seem to last very long.

I use Piaa silicone blades on all my cars. They're expensive but silent, work really well and seem to last forever ( one set is over 8 years old!

Only downside ( other than price ) is they're quite soft, so not great at scraping squashed bug remains off.

I've never had a problem with bosch wiper blades, I normally fit a new pair to every car that I have. One set is still going strong after 42 months

But, I always on every car clean and polish the glass and as a sealant to it which probably helps prolong their life span

Always used Bosch and found them to be up to the task.

Standard Bosch ones. Don't bother with any of that aero shit.

I use,the Bosch blades that are made for the Citroen c3 mk1, that way I get the wind spoilers attached. Never had a problem either way. As above make sure the springs are well lubricated.

Aero shite looks very odd on an E30.

I always use Bosch wiper blades, never had any issues.

I also use rain x aswell, very very good product.

Yeah but some people buy them thinking they work better because they look a bit nicer. However, what they usually find is that unless the window is completely covered in water, they just scrap across the screen, and when the window is wet, they miss half of it.

I have aero single blades factory fitted and always replaced on my Audi. They look good and work perfectly. An aero blade on a car as old as an e30 looks like Pacerpete wearing skinny jeans.

It seems i must take out the old wd40 can and use it on the areas needed. I do agree these new Aero style blades looks and works great on new cars but im not sure how well they would work on our old turds.

I shall stick with what works. After washing the car on a sunny day I normaly use old newspaper scrunch it up into a ball and clean the windows with it. Sounds bizar but it sure works a treat. has anybody else tried this?

Also this Rainx stuff any good ?

Rainex is good but not durable, most I've seen out out of it was 5 weeks but the bottle has enough for 10 - 15 applications

Rain x ! Cut an over ripe potato in half and wipe over your screen with it, same affect if not better. You won't even need wipers...

Bosch wiper blades here too, it's a bonus if the drivers side has the spoiler !

I don't know the science behind it but works. My old man showed me this year's ago when we picked up a car and the wipes stopped. He found a shop got a spud , squashed it and rubbed it over the screen. Worked a treat.

I would not advise you put it on if your wipers are in good working order as it may smear or just wipe off and leave a mess.

I use Bosch for the E30

I brought some Bosch's 2 months ago, and they already miss half the rain and the smudge the other half so I can't see anything.. Can't remember what type they were.. Anyway Superplus' any good as a next pair?

To update you all I bought a pair of Bosch wipers regular e30 Bosch wipers.

Results: driving around town heavily rainy weather not bad acceptable

Driving in windy rainy weather on the motorway not great as it leaves a smudge when it completed its cycle. Rain x stuff is the dogs dangles and last a little while but with our unpredictable weather in london I'd like to invest in better wipers which actually do their job correctly in most and all conditions.


Any other recommendations ????

Glad you like rainex but im shocked that the Bosch blades ate no good

I bet it's the bloody rain X that's the problem. I've been using the stuff for 30 years! And NEVER use it on my windscreen, only on my sides and rear. And once you do use it on the 'sceen? you are in for a spell of pain cos it's a bastard to get off.

It's very good as Kos says for a week. Then you will have a situation when it rains, akin to someone having spray wd40 all over the screen. It'll be smeary and blurry. EVERY time I've used it on a screen, this has happened.

The other issue is that screen washes seem to make it worse as the rain x seems to react with it.

Bosch blades are the way to go, with a clean screen, nothing on it and a good quality, correct mix of screen wash! That's all that's needed.

Oh, and any dryness in the hinge (NOT Minge Kos!!!) of the arm coupled with a weak spring will not help either.

I've not tried the potato trick but have heard it before, as I have the newspaper trick. But after the ran x dramas, I leave the screen well alone now. It's a safety thing, being able to see properly, surely?

I use auto glym glass polish , on all glass inside and out, never used rainX but the AG stuff is the tits , far superior to normal spray on glass cleaner, gives decent repellent to rain and inside misting or anything , and keeps windows clean for ages before needing a re coat , give it a try

Not from what I've just experienced. 1-2 months and it's already gone t*ts up.

Spoiler on the driver's side.

Trevor, never had issues with rainex and wipers. To be honest I'm using a nano glass sealant. It's been on for ages now, probably 6 months and it's still going strong

For screen wash, I use a more heavily watered down mix

Never had an issue at all with any product and bosch wipers, but I do clean my blades every time I wash the car.

As for cleaning class, screw all the expensive glass cleaners. IPA mixed with water is again perfect

mix 4 parts water to 1 part ipa, 5 litres for £8. i just keep it at that mix as thats what i use to wipe panels down after polishing. you can it to be weaker as well to get more for your money

or buy this which mixes 10:1 so it works out to be 60p a litre
