Pool Ball Gear Knob...

Been a while since I've posted on here... about 8 years in fact :)

It seems all manual beemers have the same gear stick diameter (which is great news) but i was wondering if the newer car knobs are backwards compatible to the E30's etc?

I'm trying to make an adapter work across the range to get a pool ball in them - but wondering how the gear gaitor jobby and shaft sizes differ - thus if you guys run later car knobs i'm guessing if i can get it sorted on one it'll work for them all :)

bit concerned the standard knob goes down the shaft along way so may not get to the gaitor... not a problem in a race/track car without the trim but in road cars will look crap.

any thoughts?

ta!
jez

ps... at the mo it can cover about 60mm of shaft...

just use the plastic insert from a standard knob, drill hole in ball and trim off the excess so it's flush then it just pushes on as per standard fitment, innit :)

I have one from years ago, and a friend just drilled and tapped it to the correct thread.

I was going to do that myself, except I'm running a b&m ask & it's not threaded' just push on with a notch in the top,

Any idea on how to get it to fit??

Yeah my shifter just has a notch at the top hence not running the extra councilness threaded 8-Ball :)

I guess I could just mix up some Araldite and bond it on for a ghetto fix worthy of the 8-Ball 'mod' :D

I can hear the OEM crowd grabbing the flaming torches and pitchforks...
