Removed the rear bench (upper & lower part) and knock through the ski hatch section of the metal. A good wack and it gives easily enough

If you can't get in at all, perhaps one of the ways would be to completely muller on of the rear lights and then reach in and get the keys. A replacement light unit is dead cheap on e bay etc etc.

Screwdriver in the lock and whack it with a hammer - works as well as it always has.

Ski hatch via rear seat, you don't have to break anything !

Poke the underneath of the boot with a big screwdriver, you'll soon find a hole

That's just careless! I can understand keys getting locked with some central locking systems that lock after 30 seconds
Ski hatch.

Its also a cabby so there is no ski hatch to go through.

Does your central locking work? Is it deadlocked?
If Yes and No, a bit of packing band on the driver's door pin is easy enough to arrange.

Only real option if you have no keys is a straight screw driver and hammer, give the screw driver a good whack whilst in the boot lock. Hey presto an open trunk

Do not use a screw driver in the lock as you will just f uck it.
As Jim, said break a rear light and you can reach in to get the keys or failing that you can pull the locking rod actuator to unlock the car.
A rear light is cheaper and easier to replace than a lock barrel, just make sure you mark up around the lamp so you dont damage the paint around it.

He says he's got a spare boot. I'd just cut a dirty great hole in the top of the boot lid and reach in and get the keys.
Then when they're out, get a spare one cut

be careful of the tool try then, cut to one side with a grinder fitted with a cutting disc and protect the rest of the car
and get 2 spares cut !!

A nice condition boot is worth more, less common than a tail light!

that's true, personally I would use the dremmel on a tail light.

For what it's worth, i have done the tail light method before and it works perfectly.

This is a saloon, isn't it? If so, what's the problem with knocking out the ski hatch panel?

I think the doors might be shut too.

Assuming that not only are the keys locked in the boot, but the entire car is also locked.

Well hook the door pin up then - that's simple enough. Or is it deadlocked as well?

This is the best way in if not dead locked.
Some nylon strapping used for paleting works.

BMW conveniently fitted mushroom headed lock pins to the E30 to make it easy.

I did suggest this further up but it fell on deaf ears!

I have also had to do that trick on a very expensive sport evo!

This trick does not work on convertibles (as the OPs car is) as the knobs are not mushroomed and when locked are flush with the top of the door card. This was undoubtably intentional on BMWs part as the lack of a door frame / B post would make it very easy for Croydon types to get the knob up.
Anyway, the panic is over, the keys have been retrieved without damage and the OP has been made to recite 250 times " I must not have council stereo BS in my car "
