A friend of mine has been offered a manifold for quite cheap.i haven't a clue what make it is and only have one picture of the manifold.could anyone with a beady eye maybe tell what manifold it is by the pic as I can't be arsed to drive to the guy as I don't even have an e30 at the minute.i know it's a long shot but if it turns out to be a goodun then ill buy it.as usuall my skills are useless on this iPad can someone pm me and I'll forward the photo thankyou. :D

I could be wrong but that looks life,e a magnex copy (ain't going outside to have a look at a genuine one as it's to cold/wet/windy,

If it's a real one it could be worth a few quid to the right folk.

Not too sure as this is a magnex manifold

That's true, as the exhaust pipe on number 6 goes under number five in the other pic :?

Well it can't be a magnex then so where's it from?? Never seem one like that before

& aza, your's look's just like mine except mine if wrapped in heat wrap :D

Not junk, just to be honest it looks like sections from two totally different makes/models of manifold,

I'm sure someone on here with more knowledge than me would be able to shed more light on it.

It could be a btb crossed with hottuning :D

I checked the wiki and it looks like the btb one.not sure obviously but if its a copy does that mean its rubbish.how will I know if its genuine?

I can tell from that pic it's not a genuine btb. Just a cheap rubbish coppy.

i know some pretty high powered m20 engines with a hot tuning manifold. it may not look as pretty but it still seems to perform well

To be fair it has to perform better than the standard cast jobbie, purely based on the fact the primaries all seem pretty equal length and the diameter looks about right for the displacement.

Maybe a dumb question but it's one I don't know the answer to (and yes could probably easily find out the answer on Google...)

What difference does having unequal primaries make to performance? Maybe the noise will be different but what about the performance/scaveging effect? Is it just so the engine pulses are kept seperate as they are forced into the rest of the exhaust system (if that makes sense?!!?)

It's a little bit above me, but from what I understand equal length primaries (of the correct length and diameter, there are calculations to work this out) create a scavenging effect as the gases moving through the tube from one opening of the exhaust valve are still in the primary, sucking the subsequent pulse out when the exhaust valves open again.

Does that make sense?

There is a dyno graph on the zone somewhere of a before and after hottuning and it did increase mid range torque a bit but only gained like 1 or 2 bhp.

All of the ht's I've seen in front me have been shocking! There is a pic I posted not that long ago of a primary of one, I will dig it out tomorrow.

They are shocking! Barry will be referring to the one I had. It went straight back. They did understand what my problem was with it either. This to me proved that they had no interest in making a "performance" manifold. They said "but it is nice and shinny!"

this engine uses chinese BTB copies im led to believe also the ones i were thinking of are raceland NOT hot tuning as i thought.

Now that's what you call an m20 :)

So what's 259kw in BHP?

& that sound, oh man that sound,
