What would your perfect spec E30 be...

I would be interested to know what people would have if they were to build an e30 from scratch, money no object;

Body type / engine / shocks / bushes / alloys / tyres / seats / arb / strut brace / tech 1 / tech 11 / brakes / brake pads / front lights / rear lights etc etc etc

We are talking standard E30 not M3....let me know your wish lists.

oh and rust free is a given.

Do you mean from the options from new or aftermarket?

If I ever get the chance/time to build another it will be -
Tech 1 exterior in henna red, colour coded bumpers and shadowline trim, bronze glass with either alpinas or BBS wheels, interiors dont really bother me so as long as its dark and cloth with bolsters I dont mind.
Engine wise, id probably go for a V8 next time round 8)

4 Door, in BMW Monte Carlo blue, with shadowline
M52B28
M3 suspension, with rubber bushes
Wheels would be silver Image F40's in 16x7 and 16x8, covered with something decent.
Tech 1 kit, with all the interior goodies
Strut Braces

Nice and comfy, looks good, but take it to a B road and it'll put a big old smile on your face every time.

2 doors look too short. The added door gives an illusion of extra length. winkeye

Full carbon fibre touring shell - prob a V10, with a proper gearbox though!!!

Got a couple of colour schemes in mind - though I do love raw carbon!!!

I'd have to have a comfy V8 auto cabby too though, for the lazy days!!! Again, a few colours I could pick from, to go with the Lotus White leather!!!!

Factory standard Mauritius Motorsport with mint Lotus Leather and a few options. Cruise, OBC, heated seats and factory air would do.

Or an original Sterling Silver (fully striped up) Alpina C2 2.7 manual with Indigo leather and optioned as above.

Granitsilber Sport with Cardinal interior, matching red carpet and shelf with red premium covers, rolling on staggered Azevs...

Just need the carpet and shelf/covers/blind.....

Or if I were to have another it would be a chromie in one of those unusual colours with an M30 transplant rolling on BBS splits with a suspension and brake upgrade :)

Soak the seats and carpets with water, fill the tyres with concrete, fill the spare tyre well with concrete, put gravel and sand everywhere.

I'd like a 325i manual Touring in Malachite with tan sports leather, 4 electric windows and aircon. I could go either way on the sunroof.
If not Malachite then Doom Blue.

Lachs silver early facelift 2 door 325i with all the right boxes ticked - LSD, Billies, AC, 15 inch BBS, ESR, lecky windows, PAS, OBC, dechromed, central locking and cruise control. Just that, as it comes from the factory.

If I had to choose between a track car and a road car for this, I would choose a road car. And for that:

2-door chromie shell in black. Seam welded tub, stitch welded elsewhere. Welded in rear strut brace tied to diff mounts. Arches cut and flared, but subtly so. All chrome trim remaining, of course. I think a sunroof would be nice and a good-spec model with power windows and power mirrors.

Standard black leather sports interior. Tech 1 wheel to keep things period. Black carpet and headlining, complete with overhead check panel 8)

16" x 8J wheels. Something 'muscle car' - deep dish, something like:

Image
Image

AP Racing or similar 4-pots up front, Z1 rears, underslung pedal box (brake and clutch) conversion for servo delete.

Quaife ATB differential. Chevy LS2 (all aluminium) 6-litre V8 engine (high lift cams, increased compression via head skim/thinner hg, lightened flywheel, standalone engine management) with Tremec T56 'box, custom exhausts and prop to suit. Retrofit air conditioning and cruise control.

Carbon fibre bonnet, sunroof panel and bootlid. Painted to match car so nobody knows. Upgraded audio head unit with auxiliary input for phone/mp3/ipod, aftermarket front and rear speakers to fit in standard mounts. Not bothered about all this subwoofer nonsense.

Twin tube adjustable dampers front and rear with spring rates to suit. Uprated front/rear anti-roll bars and drop links. Eccentric front wishbone bushes. E46 clubsport steering rack.

Finish up with 215/45/16 tyres all round.
