E30 Zone

my brakes on my cab (325i) have always been a little rubbish. and due to me getting custom wheels. i cant upgrade my brakes etc. so the only option is better quality pads & discs all round.

option 1- brembo pads & discs.

option 2- brembo discs and ebc (red) pads.

option 3 - ebc (red) pads & discs all round.

is anyone running any of these combos. if so, any feedback will be great.

at the same time i will be upgrading my brake lines to GOODRIDGE.

Brembo brakes are actually someone else brakes in a Brembo box - nothing wrong with them but they will not increase stopping power abover OEM spec like most people assume.

Ebc Redstuff are a waste of time on a 325 road car - green stuff are fine and reduce brake dust too. Wether they actually improve stopping power I don't know.

Best value would be to get Pagid all round from the ECP / CP4L webiste using whatever discount code or offer is running this weekend!

I think the best standard size brakes I've had/used were oem discs and ferodo DS2500 pads with Castrol SRF fluid. I also used the goodridge hoses I think.
Not cheap, but as I say, prob the best I've used.

Currently using EBC discs (that I think warped slightly, after very little use) and yellow stuff pads.
No real probs with them, apart from the discs warping, but it's very slight and only notices slightly when braking from high speeds (unless it's my tyres, or bushes or something!!!).

Obviously make sure the rest of the braking system - calipers, etc, are all in good working order too!!!

A brake disc is a brake disc (as long as it's not made of Chinese tin), and some pads can have better fade resistance than others, but usually at the expense of cold performance.
There's nothing remotely inadequate about standard E30 brakes as long as they're working as they should be.
Don't mistake the E30's relatively small amount of servo assistance (compared to modern cars) as 'poor brake performance'.

Just put greenstuff pads and vented discs on and they work awsome!

I've had yellow stuff pads on mine for a few years now and they've been the best pads I've tried. This year I put ebc discs on as well and I am really impressed at how well they work...even cold!!

for a street car get jurid OEM brand pads, these are the brand the factory uses so im told and thats all you need. they work better than just about anything else from stone cold which is important IMO. they dust like a MOFO but thats why god invented the pressure cleaner.

as far as discs go, dont go cheap or fancy (holes/slots) just get simple quality there are tricks the manufacturers use to help minimize tendency to warp

mines running brembo discs and greenstuff pads all round stops fine and doesn't get much fade
