Found the following damage to my touring on Saturday afternoon.

http://s75.photobucket.com/user/afcgord ... sort=3&o=4
http://s75.photobucket.com/user/afcgord ... sort=3&o=3
http://s75.photobucket.com/user/afcgord ... sort=3&o=2.
Now just by coincidence, apparently, our next door's neighbors
son visited his Mum on Friday evening just before I left for work.
Had a chat with him because he was having trouble closing his drivers door. Said he had got out of his car and forgot to put his handbrake on.
Which resulted in his car rolling down the slope in our Sq and colliding into another neighbors car. Didn't think to much about it
as I was on my way to work.
After discovering the damage, I confronted the lad, who has denied all knowledge of his car hitting mine.
To me, it's perfectly clear that not only has he left his handbrake on but also left the drivers door open, which explains the strange
shape and location of damage to my car, and also why he couldn't close his door.
When I first confronted him,I also asked if him I could take photos of his car at the rescue compound his car was remove to.
He agreed and stated that he needed to visit the car himself sometime this week to remove some personal effects.
Just bumped into him an hour ago and asked when he would be visting his car. He came out with some crap about his insurers wouldn't allow me to see the car in the compound as " I might interfere with the evidence".
Have no witnesses to any of this, so guess I'm going to have to swallow but it's going to be a very expensive lesson for this lying
little sh*t.

Rob that's awful
Do we need to raise a posse?
Just a thought - do you have his reg no? It might be if you had that and explained the situation to your insurers they may be able to access his car to determine liable blame? Are his parents reasonable people? Is it worth talking to them?
I feel your pain.

What a little turd! Id say to his parents, hopefully they are the right sort.
I reversed into a neighbors car when I was learning to drive. Went and told him. Ended up cutting his grass for 2 years, which was more than fair. He was happy enough with the honesty.

Why was his car recovered Rob? If its in a police recovery yard they might be interested to know he has left the scene of an accident that he previously admitted to being involved in

First thing I did after he denied it was to ring the Police.
" We can log it as an incident, Sir, but that's about it"
Which to be fair is about what I expected and tbh, i'd rather they did concentrate
on more important matters.
Got his mobile number from his mum yesterday, also the name of the company compound
his car was taken too. Rang them and asked if I could view the car and take photos,
" we couldn't allow you to do that as it's against the Data protection act, in any case
the car in question was removed by the owners Insurance company on Wedensday morning"
When I spoke to the little shit on Wedensday afternoon, he already knew the fecking thing had been moved.
Game on.
spook, you heartless basterd, that's my Daughters bag. Honest.
Bonnets fine peeps.

In the scheme of things, all this is just trivia. The car's drivable and I have most parts needed to repair it. It's just the princible of that matter that winds me up.
Very slight Grrrrrr.

How about contacting an Inspector on your local Police Traffic Section and asking his opinion after you've given him details of your beliefs and suspicions that an offence has occurred under section 170 of the Road Traffic Act 1988. This offence can result in imprisonment, Discretionary fine and obligatory 5 -10 points on the offenders licence!
Take my word for it they will give you a hearing. Ring your local police contact number and just ask to be put through to one of them. It cost's nothing to speak bar the cost of the call!
Heres why:-
170 Duty of driver to stop, report accident and give information or documents.
(1)This section applies in a case where, owing to the presence of a [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] on a road [F2or other public place], an accident occurs by which””
(a)personal injury is caused to a person other than the driver of that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle], or
(b)damage is caused””
(i)to a vehicle other than that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] or a trailer drawn by that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle], or
(ii)to an animal other than an animal in or on that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] or a trailer drawn by that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle], or
(iii)to any other property constructed on, fixed to, growing in or otherwise forming part of the land on which the road [F3or place] in question is situated or land adjacent to such land.
(2)The driver of the [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] must stop and, if required to do so by any person having reasonable grounds for so requiring, give his name and address and also the name and address of the owner and the identification marks of the vehicle.
(3)If for any reason the driver of the [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] does not give his name and address under subsection (2) above, he must report the accident.
(4)A person who fails to comply with subsection (2) or (3) above is guilty of an offence.
(5)If, in a case where this section applies by virtue of subsection (1)(a) above, the driver of [F4a motor vehicle] does not at the time of the accident produce such a certificate of insurance or security, or other evidence, as is mentioned in section 165(2)(a) of this Act””
(a)to a constable, or
(b)to some person who, having reasonable grounds for so doing, has required him to produce it,
the driver must report the accident and produce such a certificate or other evidence.
This subsection does not apply to the driver of an invalid carriage.
(6)To comply with a duty under this section to report an accident or to produce such a certificate of insurance or security, or other evidence, as is mentioned in section 165(2)(a) of this Act, the driver””
(a)must do so at a police station or to a constable, and
(b)must do so as soon as is reasonably practicable and, in any case, within twenty-four hours of the occurrence of the accident.
(7)A person who fails to comply with a duty under subsection (5) above is guilty of an offence, but he shall not be convicted by reason only of a failure to produce a certificate or other evidence if, within [F5seven] days after the occurrence of the accident, the certificate or other evidence is produced at a police station that was specified by him at the time when the accident was reported.
