New forums & changes to old ones

You've probably noticed that some of the forums have been moved, this is so that the forum layout is more structured and to make way for some new additions.
Over the next few days there will be some new forums appearing geared more towards enthusiasts in that area, these will include -
Motorsport/Track day
- Members Cars/Events (photos)
- Builds
- Track Day Meets
OEM
- Members Cars (photos)
- Restorations
Drift
- Members Cars (photos)
- Builds
- Drift Meets
Stance
- Members Cars (photos)
- Projects
I know some of you will moan about this but if it doesn't interest you stay out of those forums and in the ones that do! Any members misusing these forums will find themselves with jail time. We're after real enthusiasts not people drifting around in Tesco's car parks !
If any members have idea's for forums that will make a good addition to these forums, post below (they must be car related!)
There will also be a better Meet/Event section coming soon.

I would respectfully suggest that we move away from the general chitchat that is not car related, not really interested in the homosexual tales that we currently seem to be featuring in certain area's of the forum.
If this means an end to 'Pub Chat',then fair enough,it's been abused so much over the last year or so that it's already got the zone a poor reputation.
We have built a huge resource of knowledge over the years, the wiki was a brilliant idea from 'Hoshy',that the 'greemachine' and 'kedge' had taken on board and improved almost beyond belief.

Posted earlier. Any way of swinging this??
As much as I love having a chat with you cretins. It would be handy to have the build thread and comments separate.
That way it flows as a single body of work. Makes it easier for the 'creator' of the thread & readers to look through the thread. Rather than having to go through pages of general Chit chat. Just my modest opinion
Also... Will the stance & drift threads appear on the homepage? If so, BAH HUMBUG

imo this site has nothing to do with DRIFTING and will give it a bad name, we have all seen what the drifters think of the e30zone already,
but like you say like other sections i just wont go in it.

We're working on it, although we don't want, bum this and bum that, we don't want to take the fun out of the Zone either ! but everyone has their limits and ours have all been reached !

I want to get this forum back to a forum for everyone to enjoy !

Can anybody envisage a Pub who,s only form of conversation
is car related?
Have no problem with either Stance or Drift forums, this is
an ever changing forum and as such should be open to all.
As long as either formats are keeping E30,s on the road
and are not mechanically dangerous, or driven irresponsibly,
then good luck to them.
No one is forced to enter a forum.

Great idea in principal but too many sub forums I fear
The gallery should be for all cars regardless of their orientation
In Motorsport/track day should have Drift added to it
There section named as members e30's can be for journals for all our builds, both OEM & modified. Minor upgrades to full blown restorations.
In track section add a sub section for track/race/drift builds
I do not see the point of need to accommodate "stance" with a sub forum
Meets pictures should stay as is, track/drif pics can have a sub forum on track
Put e36 back in the other bmw chat which can be broken down to
E21/24/28/36/46/39 for now as these are the most popular. If there is a demand for others they can be added
Styling & Ice , bin the styling and just leave it as ICE and place it in te same grouping as detailing

I'm going to agree with what Kos has said, too many subforums will make it feel even quieter than it already is. I think as it is there are perhaps too many subforums.

We can tweak as we go along, it may feel quiet but we are still as busy as ever traffic wise, maybe members are just not posting due to reasons above?
/I'm still work on team page btw, I haven't forgotten

If the build threads where cleaned up I'd be happy.
I'm going to think of these new sub groups as e30zone's very own apartheid.

Good call kos.
Also agree with andy. The less we see off drifting and stance cocks the better. Wrong image imo

One gallery / journal for all cars except track specific

The tech could have a sub forum for braking, suspension, interior, bodywork
Keeps its out of general e30 chat which for the most part is like and ends up as pub talk and full of technical related questions

This is where interest conflict and why I was going to keep it separate.
And Pete, what would like to know?

I can think of plenty of other things that could give the wrong image.

And this is where the mods need to step in
A journal is journal at the end of the day. The old gallery didn't have that much conflict
If you keep it off the home page ( like the kindergarten) then it will not get too much unwanted attention

Fair point !
As I said tweaking my be required

Feedback page for each user rather then a separate thread would be good

Feature to come, like itrader, this old software is outdated and not worth adding anymore code to, as the a new Zone is being worked on.

i think a sub section under pub "Ebay" where all ebay content, as theres threads all the time in pub, would also be handy/easy for people to search/browse it for common asked questions etc, and also save such threads quickly getting swamped in pub by other stuff, maybe a lcoked sticky at the top for regular/good ebay e30 parts sellers/traders ? and a "ones to avoid" sticky maybe ?

We already have a 'E30 related External Ads' forum which could cover this.

that just covers external adds for cars/parts and no need to change that, not all the ebay chat/questions, which are posted a lot, often the same ones, ebay is talked about a lot and would be a busy section with a lot of Q and A about ebay in general

point being, ebay threads appear on a regular basis in the pub, often about the same old thing all the time, why not have an ebay section, a sub under pub or external adds, im not fussed either way just pointing out it would be a good idea

Is there going to be a peado bum fun section for Gert??? Also can we have a section allocated to argueing, some where safe and warm where if you feel like falling out with people u go and if u don't want to argue u don't enter! Also a section where you can put people's names down you think need banning! And last but not least add the word FERTAN to the swear filter!

I agree with Kos that the drifting stuff is probably best included with Motorsport stuff. I'm not sure that Stance really merits a separate section as there isn't a huge amount of it..
I think the edgy humour is not the biggest deal. I appreciate it's not everybody's thing but, speaking for myself, I've had a pretty shitty 6 months or so in my own life for various reasons and it's been great to be able to come on here and talk complete shite to like-minded strangers and take your mind off it all..
Otherwise, it's a great forum with loads of great people from all walks of life, and I think it does us all good to encounter people who don't necessarily see things the same way we do.

Put a sticky at the top of the New Members forum with info on adding to the Register. Clean up all the old stickies in the Tech section (three on oil? really?). Make Sub-forums in the Motorsport for Drifting and Stance, just like the Engine Swaps have sub-forums.
In fact, give me the power to make/delete stickies and I'll do it myself

This forum is an enthusiasts forum for e30's as such it has always promoted best practice for e30 ownership that does not include drifting and stance which involve wrecking or making e30's worse. encouraging these muppets is a retrograde step let them go elsewhere and let us continue to promote those aspects which enhance e30's not detract from them.

If it's a tribal one it goes in Stance, everything else in Drift.
