Any BMW will be better than a similar period Audi. Don't know about the one you're referring to though as I can't see a link anywhere.

If you want an E30 there's a wealth of info on here, and especially the Wiki. Check out the Buying Guide:

http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... ing_an_E30

and pay particular attention to Rust; that's the most important thing on E30s these days:

Not the greatest of adverts; looks clean in the pics but the guy couldn't even be bothered to clear the rubbish out before taking photos. It's also about 1000 pounds too expensive, although these days you see all sorts of prices for these old cars, so I'm not surprised he's chancing it.

I'd contact the seller and ask for the full story regarding service; has the chain tensioner been changed (needs a receipt as proof), is it definitely an LSD or is he just pulling your chain; what oil was used in the service. If he can't answer, then he's talking out of his arse about 15 years serviced by a loving owner.

The 318iS is a great little car and a good step into E30 ownership, but a lot of people fall into the "Baby M3" bullsh!t and try to price them accordingly. Have a look at the For Sale ads on here for an idea of what E30s can be had for the money.

Looks level enough - the rev counter fault will be a knackered SI board, easy and cheap to fix with a good used one.

It's missing the original iS front spoiler.

All UK IS were supplied with the deeper front lower lip. A lot can happen in 23 years, they all had arches/floors/bulkheads back then as well :(

EFA :(

Audi actually did galvanise their cars back then BMW did not.

The car in the ad does look like a good one though.

If its as good as it looks and matches the description the price is about right I'd say, obviously needs haggling down though. All the common rust places need checking, especially on a car priced at this level, doorcards and boot carpet out etc etc..........

Easy enough to check its got an LSD if you go and view, get the vin number and you can find out if it had one from new. OBC in an iS is rare as well if that was fitted from new. I'd also be wanting the vin so to check the mot history.

This ones very similar to what mine looked like. Nice colour sterling silver. Saw this on ebay. Very near me but Im after another 2.5. 18is are great cars and a lot of fun but I dont use a car much so would like the grunt of the 6 pot again. As a daily driver the 18is is superb. Nice to see the obc to. And mine didnt have the is splitter either but prob got lost at some point.

Very strong money though.

Hello.devil's advocate here! At least the audis have galvanised shells! Would love that on my e30 think how many rust topics we would miss...Bit soulless compared to e30s that shows in the price.bought 4 years ago a k reg audience 80 immaculate 100k miles fsh for £450.Gordon brown gave me 2 grand for it before be left office :D

Good panzers those 80s mine boiled over due to a blown fan fuse let it cool at side of autoroute, refilled coolant and cracked on another few thousand miles without drama!
