I was looking at these too - and for £50 more, you can get the Dare's which are tried and tested by the stanced lot

You won't get 2nd hand borbet b for that sort of money! If you don't tear your motor around the wheels should last

Everyone used to rag fake splits and bbs reps hugely, I posted up about them ages ago and got nothing but abuse...now theyv gained their own following along side real splits. I think if you cant drop 1400 quid on RS, then why the fuck not. They look great

Why not buy a more interesting set of wheels other than bbs or borbet and stand out from the crowd?

YAY

pros-
Cheap, so cheap that they almost cost the price of a refurb
if you kerb or buckle them who cares there cheap
they look great from far and not too bad upclose
you can leave them out in the rain and drive them on salted roads because there not worthy of dry days only
You don't need to panic if you hear noises at night, because no one will be trying to nick them and put your car on bricks

cons-
there fake
not the best built wheels, quantity opposed to quality
ohh and did i mention there fake?

No matter how good a set of fake splits look/how well made they are I would never buy them because they have a load of fake bolts around em! Honestly why bother?

I have seen quite a few sets of both dares and Lenso's

I find it amazing how many lead weights are needed to balance a brand new wheel !! 8O

The rears are yokohama A539 225 45 16 and the fronts are yokohama prada spec2 205 45 16 I thinks I shall check in the daylight I can't remember the sizes but I think that's right. I wasn't sure about the front tyres though they looked a bit small but if grown to like them :P.

I've never had a problem with mine, they run straight and true with I think I got a 10g on two of my wheels and nothing on the others.... What tyres do you use on them.... You'll be surprised how imbalanced some tyres can be.

Why waste your money on anything other than the real McCoy?

Because the difference between £350 and £1500 is err huge.
If you are on a budget and fancy something that looks nice why not? Why should you have to spend out £1500 on the real thing, how many other wheels are the actual genuine original version.

The part that annoys me is when fake wheels have BBS stickers on them, dont try and make them something they are not.
I have to do alot of shows and unless people have been up close (directly next to the car) no one has stated that they are fakes, even with all the Wheel whore people at Brands hatch.

I have given mine abuse and they are still true and in perfect condition. Cleaned wheel and maintained they do last, rolling around in salt and all the other shit on the roads without cleaning then of course they wont last. What wheel actually will?

Image

If I can get away with these wheels next to this lot, I think they are perfectly acceptable.

Image

I agree, I would always want a genuine set of BBS wheels over replicas, but not everyone can afford them

A fair bit of snobbery going around

go for the DARE RS. They look pretty good. ony difference is obviously they are 1 piece and they have a bolt on the cap. instead of a twisty cap

Yeah problem is if you don't properly look after them the lacquer begins to peel off and as you can split them apart it becomes an impossible task to get them refinished.

If you were to clean and wax them once a fortnight they'd stay good and fresh for a long time.

I have genuine splits sat in my attic wrapped in shrink wrap waiting until the summer is officially here so i can put them on the car. I fear curbing them as it will destroy the look of the wheel and cost me dearly to refurb them. I also fear some one trying to nick them or even if they were to steel my centre caps it would cost me £150 to replace them. :( And all this just so i can say there real splits

Bollox to real splits,

Because some people (including myself) can't afford to pay £1000 + for a second hand set of BBS RS wheels and they are like hens teeth.

At least the fake bolts line up with something in the ebay set, Lenso's don't

I half thought about a set of Lenso, dare, etc because it looks good to have that kind of dish but it's the quality that puts me off, i don't see many of them lasting 20+ years like genuine BBS. Splits may cost a lot but they are a true investment, you'll always get your money back on them, possibly more.
I think I would now prefer to spend the money on a quality refurb of my std 15" BBS, possibly diamond cut or polished rim, nice new badges, decent tyres. I would never look at them and wish they were real thing... :)
