E30 engine conversion

Hi and Merry Christmas everyone,

I am thinking of purchasing a second E30, however this time I am looking for one to use as a fast road / track day car. I think I have found the base vehicle, however I am unsure of what would be the best engine conversion. I like the idea of a 3.5 litre turbo, as I believe this is a fairly easy conversion, however I don't want to upset the handling. I would prefer a 6 pot as I love the sound of these engines, however a 4 pot would be best for handling. Any suggestions that wouldn't be too taxing to convert?

Thanks. :D

M52b28 is the way to go. they are light and can get them up to 270Bhp with a few extras on them

Come and buy my S50 powered road legal (just) track car . Turn key sorted car for a lot less than it will cost to build anything decent :D

A PROPER SORTED RELIABLE M30 turbo conversion will leave you no change out of 5K and then you need a car :(

Contrary to what is often spouted on the internet, RELIABLE power costs lots of money.

Am I right in thinking the M52B28 is the E36 328i lump? That sounds tempting.

I would like to build my own car ideally as I can build it to my exact specification, but thanks.

Don't forget your K&N air filter, that must be good for about 12hp.

250 bhp with bolt on mods???? I am building a 3.0l m52 with cams, if I hit a GENUINE 250 bhp i will be chuffed. As for 270 bhp, I am not saying its impossible but I am sure Pete's s50 would be cheaper.

Rich, m50 inlet and bbtb with remap would give a real world 230bhp. S50 cams maybe 260bhpu

Sanspeed and Bexley Motor Works are both in Bexleyheath.

Surrey rolling road is a bit further a way in Chobham near where the M25 meets the M3.

How much power does a m102 engine make, and what do you need to do to increase it?
