Correct mate just e30'z helped me get her to such a good place.

Thank you so much for posting the pic.

BBS Center Caps 7.5j front and 9j Rears
Lowered
6 branch and full SS custom exhaust
Brand new dash no cracks
K&N Panel filter
Complete engine bay refurb & inlet manifold/rocker cover paint etc
EBC drilled & grooved brakes with yellow stuff pads and red calipers

She has a very distinct slight flake in the rear bumper.

The aerial is roof mounted which is the most tell tale give away for this car imo

Very unlikely I'd have thought. I'm sure there's more than one person stealing cars in the south of England, and let's face it, an E30 isn't exactly going to pose much of a challenge to even the most amateur thief. Hope you get it back unscathed mate, but the odds are unfortunately against it.

why arent the popo doing anything about it?! ring them and ask them to give you the power to make your own enquiries!, we live in an age of cctv where near enough every place is monitored,

do what you can draw up a map and start looking around at council cctv cameras, i just noticed its been two weeks? realistically you have a short window in which to track it down, feel very sorry for you mate! I would be heartbroken!

get out there tomorrow and try and track down any routes in which the aholes could of taken, in the moment you need some muscle i.e as others have said if the previous owner might have had a spare key and nabbed it, ask them politely to look at their garage etc, if not barge through and look!

post an add up is one step however dont be hopeful that it will come back like that, you need to get on the hunt!, if it was mine id do all i could to try and track it down, if the car has been nicked for parts etc its either at a lockup so do some research on lockups / garages and have a snoop around say a 5mile radius depending if you find anything via cctv, if they do break it the shell will have to be scrapped so put up a notice at local scrappys offer a large reward and hope someone will spill the beans!

post up email alerts on ebay etc and gumtree for specific parts on your car, put all e30 and bmw sites on alert for parts so if they try and sell it would be very hard!

if its being exported im not sure on the procedure but try and alert companies which export vehicles etc, i very much doubt its a serious organised crime with a secret society dealing in nicking e30s, most likely a small group of scallywags!

bmw9818 thanks mate for all the advice. the police initially handed the crime to a junior who basically didnt even know what an e30 was - she had been tracking an e46 and was totally lost. we have since got local borough cctv and it is under review by the police. tomorrow when i have a better connection i will post a full and proper history from purchase to upgrade to theft so please guys watch this space and also take note of the pics as i will be uploading more for your info. thanks for the great advice once again.

Put a wanted ad on the bay and piston heads (and on here) for a set of those wheels and some diamond black panels or a tech 2 kit. The greedy c**ts will bite I bet.

Sorry to hear about bad news :( It does seem fishy that it went soon after you purchased it.

I know it is bolting the stable door after the incident, but above is the best way. Recently in the yard where my workshop is, there were some face tattooed, mouth breathing, undesireables, frequenting one of the units. It was obvious what they were up to as they kept strange hours etc. One Saturday I got a call to say the yard was crawling with rozzers and they wanted to look in all the units. They all checked out apart from the one belonging to the scumbags. The coppers broke in to it and removed a clean looking landrover 90, probably £10k worth.

The coppers explained that the vehicle went missing at 2.00am the night before and they tracked it to the yard. The time was 12.00 noon, and it was on the back of a low loader. 10 hours thats not bad going, even if it did take umpteen of the fookers standing round for an hour or two to achieve it. You need to give them the best chance possible, because they are not going to come over all C.S.I and actually catch the perps on their own initiative, sadly.

what can the police do ?
statistics show that 1000 cars are stolen every day. to the police and old car (which in statistical terms an e30 is) is not the normal target. and its not a desirable classic worth 50/60 grand

X5's transits and other easy to shift/easy to ring/clone and cars that are easy to export are the target. the 'workers' who take the cars are not that important unless they are going to roll over and say who they are working for

the police are limited to what they can do, they can not go looking for it, nor will they go knocking on the door of every e30 breaker

also, i wouldnt worry about calling a couple off the 1000's of shipping agents who export cars either. the car is in the UK and will be broken for spares here.

who ever took it wanted it for one of 2 things

1 a joy ride
2 spares or to ring it and if it was for spares or to given a new ID it would have been done very quickly as it is easy to do

its a cuntish thing to happen but it has happened but it can be replaced.
what needs to be done is keep your eyes open for your spares in case it is in bits and more importantly start building a strong case to have a decent pay out

Oh man another one stolen...sorry to hear that mate hope u find it Soon, there's too many people driving around in e30's now a days in east London. I just invested in a couple of pay as u go sim trackers, very easy to install no professional needed small and cheap it gives me peace knowing that if my pride and joy is stolen I have a very good chance of finding it. I've posted a ad in sales section if you want to know more, I will ask around as I know some garages that just work on e30's in east London. Good luck mate

The trackers undoubtedly work and aren't overly expensive to fit but the subscription charges are ridiculous. £174 a year? I'm pretty sure I wouldn't pay a annual fee for a device that can be defeated just like any security system.

The car is gone and stripped, of that we can be pretty certain. What you now need to concentrate on, is scouring the classifieds for similar cars for sale at the higher end of the price scale and saving the ads ready for the insurance company and their £800 offer :(
