Can't remember what the originals were, but why would you want something close to? Tyre technology has come a long way.

Uniroyal 340 was a very common OE fitment when new as was the Pirelli P600 iirc.

One of my tourings came with an unused original spare, complete with orange inspection sticker, and that was a Pirelli P600.

Second the Pirelli P600, my convertible had the same with a spare that had never been used.

I guess Pirelli P6000 would be the closest to what you're looking for then?
But if you're insisting on Pirelli, a P-Zero Nero would be better

All these 20+ year old tyres will be near on plastic as the rubber hardens with age.
Would make for some interesting handling with one or more on!
Dont bother with the modern equivalent which is the P6000, they are shite!

I've collected 5 unused spare 15" BBS wheels and tyres over the years, so I have a "brand new" set in store for myself, and all 5 have a different tyre on from new.
The tyres, although the same size, were supplied from different manufacturers, according to whatever BMW could broker as the cheapest deal on the day.
Same applies today.
So, use what you like!

lol, hatefull tyres.
on the plus side, they last forever.
on the bad side, they have little to no grip, and they last forever so never need replacing

P6000 is fine in temps over 15-20c, just that we dont get too much days over that here.
A compromise would be P6000 for grip and economy from April/May to September/October, then winter tyres which remain supple at 0c, unlike almost all tyres you may fit in the UK, during the winter months.
Under 5c almost all our normal tyres are shite..if you want good grip always you'd be changing tyres as often as f1 teams do.

Its been below 5°C for the last day or two here and my Nankangs have been brilliant!
The old old Pirelli/uniroyal combo I replaced were f00king lethal in comparison

Lets face it, any decent tyres will have gone off by the time I get round to making the brakes smaller

Just bought these - all p600's - look like they've been on the wheels for about 20 years. Described as "Mint", never been punctured or repaired....

Never a P6000 They were released in the early 90's around when the e36 was launched
Michelin MXV's would have been on later sports and on earlier cars probably a P600.

Read the first few posts. P600 was mentioned as the original fitment, P6000 as its successor, which are shit.

There's usually a four figure date code embossed on the sidewall. First two digits are the week of manufacture, and the other two are the last two digits of the year.
Some countries will give an advisory on their MOT test equivalent for any tyre six years old or more.

Pity Michelin Pilot Sport range don't cater for this size as what you would ideally want is a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres ....
