Snow + E30!

:D
There was compacted snow on the ground today. The local road was totally slippery - I struggled to get traction at 10mph. The 90 deg bend was awesome. Big grins.

Next thing, going round the rounabout at 25mph and the car took on quite a lairy angle, I was grinning like a loon.

I had to deliver a parcel to DHL and that's on an ex-RAF base with loads of link roads. These were also compacted snow. 90 deg bends were such a laugh. Give me 2-3 hours on those conditions and I reckon more of the E30's capabalities could be harnessed. It's sooo stable and predictable once set up on a corner.

My love affair with the iS is in full swing now. How can a car be so good to drive?

Am waiting for the snow for sideways fun, rain will do though.
RWD is the best fun by far, well as long as you arent going up a steep hill or need be anywhere quickly.

I just got home from work, had an hours drifting session :)

Its got a big carpark on a slight slope so was well easy to hold the slide, also went to a local large roundabout and was having fun coming off that.

Its the 1st time ive ever really got the thing sideways as i havent wanted to damage anything before.

Nest step is to do it in the sx 8O (at least its got an lsd)

I remember having some fun in my old iS when it snowed about 2 yrs ago, it got silly angles. Going straight down a road but sideways was the thing that cracked me up tho :D

Well, I just fitted some ATE discs and new pads today, plus painted the callipers with Black hammershite. It's getting plenty of mechanical TLC. I also treated all of the leather today.

However, I've not bothered fixing the dent in the front wing, or the paint chips on the front valence. The gearbox is noisey in 2nd and 4th, plus I've never solved the engine noise. However, it goes really well and I love the car. It's a work horse, and I work it hard and expect to be enterained when I drive it. Which I am.

Do have any explanation for the "brillo pad" paint finish on the boot lid? It doesn't bother me, I'm just intrigued. Plus the bonnet looks like a replacement item.

I'm not bothered by these things. The car has a fun factor that shines through. I have no great intention of making it into a show car. I could fit a bew wing and get the valence, boot lid and bonnet sprayed quite cheaply and it'd be a very smart car. But I bought it as a cheap car to drive and that's what it is.

the boot thats crazy hazing where the paint is cracked underneath the laquer. Was there when i bought it.

I put the leathers in!

Pacer reckons the car has had a front ender before not by me! So the bonnet could be a replacement item.

Both sides of the car have been resprayed in the past again before me.

The dent on the wing was me i'm afraid! I hit a jag at 5mph at a t-junction.

I know the noise your on about! i could never work out what it was. I noticed that alot of 16v cars sounded similar

Maybe someone has left 4 valves under the rocker cove, that would make 16. winkeye

Well I really like the car. I added anothe dent in the same place as the existing one when I span it in the wet. Which was good. Did no other damage at all.

Anyway, great car, I like it. I like the leather too.

i liked it, i didn't want to sell it. But i couldn't insure the sport on a classic policy and drive the 318iS as a daily driver.

I nearly sold the sport on, partly because i didn't think it was alot faster and it took a while to get used to the economy for want of a better word again compared to the frugal iS
