How much should i be paying for a powerflow exhaust...

Plans for 2013, is to get a new exhaust system on the 318is.
Anyone got a powerflow exhaust system fitted? i went to a place in hayes and they quoted me £320 for the job, and i asked is there any play in the price and his response was yes, we'll discuss that when its fitted.
So has anyone got a powerflow exhaust and how much did it set you back? and is the price i got quoted very reasonable??

I couldn't agree more, worst thing I have ever seen.
Had it on a breaker, I weighed it in it was unuseable. Terrible build quality, and sounded like an elephant with disentery

+1, I ditched the DTM powerflow on my cab when I bought it, it was far far too loud and just produced a terrible droan. Personally I would only ever get a custom made stainless again. And most likely not on the cabby as the mild steel one is loud enough for me.

my mate got one once sounded like a wet fart, and as if the exhaust had loads of loose metal inside

I got a custom stainless fitted to mine. Twin pipe. Not too loud, but enough to entertain through the tunnels. Pretty rear end, no daft extensions. Pretty chuffed with it. But I paid double what you want to pay for your's.

I had one on my iS and it was fine, sounded just a bit louder than standard. Was made over 7 years ago and is still on the car now and is still fine as far as I know. Same goes for the one my first car had fitted when I bought it.
They don't use the best quality materials but the finished product is down to the quality of the actual fitter!

My old IS had a powerflow exhaust.. Was on it when I bought it. It did sound a bit too burbley.. I think from the receipts that came with the car. £300-£400 was about the cost.

The quality of Powerflow systems depends on 2 things
1: do they actually use Powerflow boxes and decent stainless steel tubing
2: the quality of the of the welding and the skill ( or lack of ) of the guy doing it
What is do is not use the guys in Hayes. I've not heard a single positive thing about them
Consider magnaflow, Their boxes are good and there is an authorised franchise in colnbrook called profusion customs who make bespoke systems

I have a powerflow back box and have had a few over the years. They are all franchises and the one near me had an excellent exhaust builder. As above not down to the name.

It is also going to have a lot to do with what the buyer chooses to have fitted, choice of pipe diameters and silencer sizes. I kept mine as close to the original exhaust as I could.
New Scorpians are known for blowing their baffles out and getting very loud. Not as well made as they used to be. Waiting to see how my system holds up.

I got a quote of top gear hayes, my next option was ask the guys at style dynamix.
I'll check out profusion customs aswell as its local

What's also worth considering is that the IS has a resonator in its original system. Getting rid of it will alter the exhaust note drastically
On my old IS I just had a back box made up for it, it was little louder than stock, burbled a bit on idle and that was good enough for me.
Unlesa the current OEM system is in need of replacing it may be an idea just to change the back box for a custom set up with your choice of pipes
