Have a gander's at this:
http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... s_it_worth
Now work your way through it and let me know what value your car comes to. Is it a stupid figure? Too high? Too low? Is there anything else that you think should increase your car's worth?

Interesting Mr. Machine
I'd be prapared to go out on a limb at say that I know exactly what it's worth - what someone is prepared to pay for it! OK. not very useful I know.
Scrap price has dropped recently, more likely to get £120 now.
One model for valuing a car, which I may have posted before is:
Scrap value + £30 for each months MOT + value of any tax - cost of any repairs required.
Using your model my car is now worth more than twice what I paid for it 6 years ago. Happy days. Not that I'm thinking of selling it.
Just one question - where do 14" BBS wheels fit in the scheme of things? Standard maybe

Liked this..
If the car has been fitted with 17" wheels, especially BK Alpina reps, the car's value returns to base price
But isn't Pearl Beige an interior colour, not a paint colour?

The highest value according to that is £1750 which my car reached.
It's worth a dam sight more than that and would even frag to 3 times that!
Also, it says that if said car is fitted with BK's, return to base price (£200).
I take it that was said in jest?

I'm worried that you had to ask.
To get 1750 you must have a rust-free 4-door 325i with standard (non poverty) equipment on BBS wheels with decent suspension. Has your car got anything that you think makes it worth more?
The maximum price for a non-Sport car is 2550, which seems about right.
This article needs a LOT more work, and that's what this thread is for

You're probably right, but it helps me stop thinking about how to do the Engine Swap section

Its certainly a minefield, the options could get expansive to say the least, but theres no harm in trying to taylor a rough guide for pricing a car. Good efforts. Mine came in at £100 more than what a paid for it a few months back..

pissing in the wind as above !
no mention of history, milage, general condition of stuff, trim, interior, etc,all have a bearing, where you say extras- what if it has all, and more, stereo equipment, also if it say had recent full bilstein and eibach say 6 months old- would add more than 150, even location location would have a bearing, also the setting
could have "if your a jobless pikey who looks like your from shameless and lives in squalour subtact 400 ,and if you are a well of fellow in a big country house add 300"
nice idea, but way too many contributing factors to be able to make a valuation guide like that

Would the TYPE of interior have any impact on the final cost? Like paint, it's all personal preference.
Regarding the extras; they don't really work cumulatively. As barry says, the frag value of a car could be immense, but the price the car fetches is a different kettle of fish. A fully tricked-out E30 won't sell for 8k, even if all the parts cost that much. The Eibach idea would actually be 250 - 150 for that, plus 100 for replacing the original components.
G-Bear's comment is interesting though; within 100 quid of the actual purchase price!

probably would yes, a 318is or sport for example if it had a comfort interior....would detract from the price, as there would also be a difference in value of a car if say the seats were heavily worn with holes and tears, or amazingly mint looking like new and not 20 years old, or if the dash had cracks, carpet had heavy wear, etc, condition has a big bearing

Seems pretty fair to me. I have a mint 320 chromie with no rust, but with no bells and whistles, all new oem suspension and 14" bbs alloys and my price comes back as £1700.

Good effort, but I tend to agree with this on the basis that my cab barely comes to 2/3's of what the chancer idiots on gumtree offered.
I think for standard models you may be able to get some kind of formulated benchmark, but I think thats about it.

I've made some tweaks to take polsta's comments into account, and it returns these sorts of values:
Standard 320i four-door saloon with standard equipment and six months' tax: 920 pounds
Mint 318i coupe with standard equipment: 1500 pounds
Turd 325i coupe with high equipment but no MOT: 1110 pounds
As others have stated, it will never be accurate, but it does give a decent guideline for newbies looking at their first E30. Unless you lot can find something massively misleading, of course

i dont really think its viable, it may even be bad in the sense people might come on here looking/find by google, and get wrong ideas of value etc, or people looking at that when pondering a real nice e30 for sale,on ebay or here etc (a zoner may be selling) , and think oh its not worth that much, etc etc
better of just removing it, all that + - £200 business is a bit ropey

I have to say for the spec and condition of my car it comes in at pretty much bang on what I would consider selling for at £2400. I know everyones ideas are different and if you have sunk ££££'s into your car being told its worth 2-3K may sound harsh but the reality is that in todays market it is most likely what someone might pay.
Most people are surprised that when I say I reckon mine is worth approx 2.5K as they just think its a 20+ year old car and should be £500 worth.
I do agree with others though its down to how much someone is willing to pay and how little you are willing to let the car go for.

I think its a great effort and works quite well... The people who seem offended have either worked it out wrong or value there turds at more than what they are worth... Also, keep in mind, its just a guide for people who have no clue at all.

Maybe a mention of the tech 2 kit could be important also, as some 318iS's have them factory fitted and some people have slapped them on??
I think the touring is becoming slightly more popular and seems to be common on the zone now, saying that they took the production till 93/94 so more recent than all the '90 turds lol.
Also the common interior problems...ripped bolsters and split dashboards, the missing/damaged under panels (driver side).
Maybe the more rarer items also...M-Tech 1 Rear spoiler/iS lip/Headlamp washers/sunroof
Maybe I've gone way to anal about it but just thought i'd shoot a few grey areas unmentioned...
P.S mines worth about £1500 mark give or take. Pretty chuffed about that given I bought it well cheap

Cracking effort. I think the guide is a great start and 10/10 for producing it.
I think we'd need Prof Stephen Hawking to work out an algorithm for accurately valuing E30s. However, we have enough collective expertise on the zone to do that.
Perhaps the next development is for specific models - one each for 2 doors, 4 doors, cabbys and tourings.

I'd Agree with that, all the possible variations per model basically, if this gets done right, it may just be one of the best e30 buyers guides out there!

A good crack, surely you must mean 'sports seats' in this list, not comforts?
Therefore, add 300 if the car has at least 3 of the following:
Fog lights
13-button OBC
Leather seats
Comfort seats
M-tec steering wheel
Front electric windows

Thanks for the comments guys. I must admit, I pulled the numbers out of my arse (especially the percentages at the end) so it's good to hear that the numbers are coming out generally alright.
I did think about bodykits, but they're not clearcut (i.e. Tech 2 = higher value) because they also hide rust, and no seller will let you take the skirts off to check. And if your iS is missing its splitter, it's really only 50 quid to get that sorted, so not a big deal. The interior issues, like missing panels and torn bolsters, would be enough to move a car down a category at the end, from Standard to Unloved.
At the moment the maximum price is 4800 for a mint Sport; maybe that's why people don't like it.

Fair enough then, I guess these are the more minor issues compared to the rust that lies beneath lol

If only every turd was as easy to 'value' as a 4 door

That means the Wiki is wrong, but I can't fix it if you don't tell me the numbers.
This is the risk that polsta stated; artificially inflated prices.

Which suggests a 325i Touring with Standard equipment, Avez wheels, a decent stereo and recent suspension repairs in Mint condition. Sound about right?
I ought to put the proviso that this is Mint in the Collector's sense, not the eBay meaning.
